McKenna Grace talks about co-starring with Glenn Close in the new Hunger Games movie

Dior ambassador Anya Taylor-Joy, fresh from spending Monday afternoon in Santa Monica promoting her new action series Lucky at Apple TV’s press day, arrived at the Dior Addict Sweet Shop party on the Sunset Strip.

The candy-themed pop-up, which celebrated the launch of the French luxury brand’s Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil and Fragrance, offered guests pink cookies, pastel gummies and gumballs, as well as a bundt cake dessert bar. Taylor-Joy wore a muted white dress with blue details. “It reminded me a little of Mr. Dior’s original Junon dress with petals,” she told me. “It felt a bit like Marie Antoinette or Petit Trianon. I thought, if I’m going to a candy store, I might as well wear clothes that match.”

The atmosphere is quite different from “Lucky”. Taylor-Joy plays a con artist on the run after a major heist goes awry. The series, which will premiere on July 15, is an adaptation of Marissa Stapley’s novel of the same name. The cast also includes Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aounjanou Ellis-Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Fichtner.

“I’ve done a lot of action in my life, but I’ve never gotten away like I did on this show,” she told Variety. “I was running all over California. I saw everything.” She seems to have some regrets. “You would think I would train for it, but I never do that,” Taylor-Joy said. “I always wish I had put a little more thought into it on my first day.”

The Sweet Shop guest list also included McKenna Grace. “I’m a real fan,” she told me. “I definitely use many of their products. Massacre, perfume. Lip oil is my favorite.”

In November, Grace will appear in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping as Maysilee Donner. She talked about working as Drusilla Sickle, opposite the almost unrecognizable Glenn Close. “Her makeup is ridiculous,” Grace said. “Seeing her walk around in such high heels (Grace holds her hands about a foot apart) is so crazy to watch every day. Watching her walk around on set was very tense but exciting, especially with the relationship between the two characters…It’s fun to get yelled at by her.”

Grace has remained silent about Scream 7. She’ll be joining the series in the latest installment, but not much is known about who she’s playing or what she’ll have to do with the storyline. “I didn’t have to study because I’ve seen everything (‘Scream’),” she said. “I’m a very big fan. I’ve been a big fan for a long time. I saw the first movie in theaters. I love it, but there’s nothing else I can say about it.”
