Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have purchased a luxurious new $27.4 million mansion in Montecito, California, but they have no plans to return to the United States permanently.
The acquisition comes just over a year after the former talk show host, 68, and Arrested Development alum, 53, moved to the UK.
A source close to the couple told Page Six that the move is only temporary.
“They are not tired of Britain,” our source explains. “They wanted to spend the winter in Montecito.
“They love the Cotswolds and are looking forward to returning soon.”
The couple’s new digs, previously owned by producer Brian Grazer, span three landscaped acres and include a pickleball court.
The pair moved to the UK in the wake of President Trump’s victory and to fulfill De Rossi’s “dream” of living in the British countryside.
They purchased 43 acres of land called Kitesbridge Farm, but lived there for only a month before moving to a newer, larger home with more area for De Rossi’s horses.
In July, the couple put their farm property on the market for $30 million, $10 million more than the purchase price, after extensive renovations.
“When we decided to live here full-time, Portia knew she couldn’t live without her horses,” DeGeneres said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal.
“We needed a house with horse facilities and pasture.”
The “Finding Nemo” star has long been an avid home buyer and has purchased at least 34 homes in California since the mid-2000s.
The couple, who married in 2008, own a vast real estate portfolio, but in March 2025 they sold a two-bedroom, two-bathroom beach bungalow in Montecito, California, for $5.2 million.
