Tyra chose a sheer plunging dress embroidered with gold beads and Pandora jewelry for tonight’s Grammy Awards.

The South African singer’s song “Push 2 Start” has been nominated for Best African Music Performance.

The star, who won his first Grammy in 2024, recently opened up about why he released a four-song EP, WWP, ahead of his upcoming sophomore album.

Tyra returns to the spotlight tonight as a two-time Grammy nominee and ready to make the best-dressed list. On the red carpet, she wore a sheer Dsquared dress with a plunging neckline and a generous feather train, which she accessorized with a Pandora choker necklace made from lab-grown diamonds and strappy high-heeled sandals. She wore her hair half-up, with long bangs falling in sultry waves to the right side of her face.

The star’s song “Push 2 Start” from Tyla+ (deluxe edition of her debut album) has been nominated for Best African Music Performance.

Tyra spoke to Variety in August about the level of fame she’s achieved over the past few years, particularly with her Grammy-winning song “Water.”

“When ‘Water’ happened, I wasn’t ready,” she said. “I became obsessed with the idea of doing things ‘right’. I wanted to take more time and make mistakes to fully understand myself as an artist, but then things just didn’t work out…well. ”

She realizes how great her career already is. “What happened to me is not normal,” she said. “I don’t think anyone can come out of my hometown (Edenvale, South Africa) and feel normal that millions of people know you. I respect my predecessors and I respect the African and South African artists who literally helped me get here. I’m grateful for everything and I’m so happy to be able to represent my country.”

She released a four-song EP, WWP (We Want to Party), in July, setting the tone for her second album. “I wanted to put out the kind of music I have now into the world,” she explained. “We wanted something very aggressive and loud and perfect for summer. Saying what we said on ‘Mr. Media,’ we needed to get that idea out before the album came out. ‘We Wanna Party’ was meant to be a bridge to the album, and when the album comes out it’s going to have a completely different vibe than what people are expecting.”

Tyra hasn’t revealed a release date for the album, but did give an update on how the project is coming together. “I spent more time working on this album than the first one, so I ended up with a lot more songs,” she said. “It feels really current. This time it feels more personal because I’m living what I’m singing about. It’s more like me.”
