2026 Grammy Awards host Trevor Noah drew applause after making a joke about Nicki Minaj’s recent appearance in Washington, D.C., to support President Donald Trump.
“Nicki Minaj isn’t here,” Noah, 41, quipped in his opening monologue. “She’s not here. She’s still in the White House discussing very important issues with Donald Trump.”
Mimicking Trump, 79, Noah added: “Actually, Nicki, I have the biggest butt, I have it. People say that, Nicki. I know they say it’s you, but it’s me — wop wop wop, look at me baby.”
Chrissy Teigen gave the host a thumbs up in response to his comments.
The 43-year-old rapper recently spoke at the Trump Account Summit on Wednesday, January 28, calling himself the president’s “biggest fan” and adding, “That’s not going to change.”

BLACKPINK’s Rosé and Bruno Mars opened the 2026 Grammy Awards in a grand manner.
The two performed their chart-topping hit song “APT.” With a new rock arrangement.
The pair wore coordinating black-and-white menswear looks (Rosé was emulating early 2000s Avril Lavigne with a tie) when they took to the stage to perform the song, which was nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
Mars performed an attention-grabbing electric guitar solo during his opening performance.

Bunny Zoe and Jelly Roll were spotted catching up with Reba McEntire inside Crypto.com Arena just before the main show of the 2026 Grammy Awards began.
McIntyre performed with Brandy Clark and Lukas Nelson in the memorial segment, and Jerry won Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Amen” with Shabzi and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for “Hard Fight Hallelujah” with Brandon Lake.
The “Save Me” singer was also named Best Contemporary Country Album along with Beautiful Broken.
Kesha celebrates her first Grammy appearance as a ‘free woman’

Kesha has become an independent artist and is celebrating being a “free woman” at this year’s Grammy Awards.
“I really wanted to be like Athena,” Kesha explained in an interview with E! News of a white feathery dress named after the Greek goddess Athena.
“I’ve been really inspired by Athena lately. I wanted to give it freedom, because this is my first Grammy weekend as a free woman, as the head of a record label, owning the rights to my own voice. And I wanted my outside to match my inside,” she added.
Kesha founded her own label, Kesha Records, in 2024. She released her first independent album, (Period) July 4, 2025.

Noah Kahan reveals how he balances his personal and professional life.
The “Stick Season” singer, whose new music video is set to premiere during the 2026 Grammy Awards, spoke to PEOPLE and EW on the carpet after recently returning from her honeymoon.
“I’m very good at doing the Hannah Montana thing, and when I can do this, I can switch off and be myself,” Kahan said. “We found a really good balance. It took us quite a while, but we found that balance and we’re happy.”
Learning that she wasn’t the first person to mention Miley Cyrus’ Disney Channel character on the carpet, Kahan added, “Oh, really? Yeah, she’s a cultural icon.”

It was an emotional night for Kelly Osbourne.
The 2026 Grammy Awards will feature a performance in memory of Kelly’s late father, Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away in July 2025 at the age of 76.
“It’s so amazing to see his peers showing love and respect for his work tonight, and it’s going to be an emotional experience for us,” she told PEOPLE and EW of the performance, which was scheduled to include Post Malone, Duff McKagan, Slash, Chad Smith and Andrew Watt.
Kelly, who walked the carpet with her fiancé Sid Wilson, said she is holding on and is “okay” for now. “I’m not going to lie. I’m not going to be the one to say I’m okay, because I’m not okay,” she admitted.
“This is the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through in my life. But I have people I love, I have a beautiful baby, and my mom, my brother, and I are very close-knit,” Kelly added. “I never thought our bond could get any deeper, but it did. My father was one of the greatest men to ever walk this earth.”

Laney Wilson shares her thoughts on the Recording Academy’s changes in the country music category and AI-generated music.
For the 2026 Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy introduced Best Traditional Country Album and changed Best Country Album to Best Contemporary Country Album.
“Honestly, I think it’s a good call because I feel like it’s happening in so many different countries right now,” Wilson, 33, told PEOPLE and EW on the red carpet. “Honestly, I feel like it’s a little bit of everything for everyone. I’m excited to see what other categories it falls into, because that’s the way this country is growing and moving forward. I think that’s cool.”
Wilson went on to criticize the use of AI in country music. “We’re not ready for that. Don’t ask me that,” she added.

“I think it’s more important than this award that Bad Bunny win,” Gloria Estefan told E! After Raices won the award for Best Tropical Latin Album, they performed live on the red carpet and talked about the importance of being “proud” of Latin culture.
Estefan, 68, pointed out that Bad Bunny’s album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS would be the first Spanish-language album to win Album of the Year.
Bad Bunny, who received six nominations at the 2026 Grammy Awards, will be on stage at the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show next weekend on Sunday, February 8th.

Best New Artist nominee Alex Warren tells PEOPLE and EW that Justin Bieber is the person he wants to meet at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
“I used to text Justin Bieber a lot when I was a kid,” Warren, 25, said. “I was watching him skateboard. I’ve been a competitive skateboarder since I was little, so I thought he would read it and I was like, ‘I’m going to skate someday.’ The moment this happened, I had to delete all my DMs. There were like 400 of them. There’s probably a restraining order. I don’t know.”
Warren said he will sit “about two tables” away from Bieber during the ceremony.

The R&B star — a past Grammy winner and this year’s nominee for Best R&B Album for “Why Not More?” — is engaged to NBA star Donovan Mitchell, and teased their upcoming nuptials on livestreams with PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly.
On the red carpet at the 2026 Grammy Awards, she told hosts Patrick Gomez and Janine Rubenstein, “Everything is amazing. It’s definitely very new, you know? I’ve done dresses before for work, I’ve planned events, I’ve done all that kind of stuff, but to plan an entire wedding is an indescribable feeling.”
What are Jones’ wedding essentials? “My charm is disgustingly necessary and I want it to be intimate,” she teased.
Jones previously told PEOPLE that getting engaged felt like “the biggest contract I’ve ever signed.”

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Defying Gravity” from “Wicked: Part I” at the 2026 Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony.
The Wicked: Part I soundtrack was also nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media at the 2026 Grammy Awards, and its score was nominated for Best Score Soundtrack Album for Visual Media. Both awards went to the soundtrack and score of Sinners, respectively.
This award comes after Wicked: For Good failed to receive a nomination at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards.
Wicked: Part I was nominated for 10 awards at the 97th Academy Awards and won two for Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.

The 2026 Grammy nominations were announced in November, with Kendrick Lamar leading the way with nine nominations.
Lady Gaga was closely followed by producers Cirkat and Jack Antonoff with seven each.
Bad Bunny, Leon Thomas, and Sabrina Carpenter each took sixth place, and several artists took fifth place, including Doechii, SZA, writer/producer Andrew Watt, Tyler, the Creator, and Pusha T & Malice of Crypse.
