The long-awaited sequel to Searchlight’s 2019 horror-comedy film “Ready or Not” will be released sooner than expected. Walt Disney Studios plans to release “Ready or Not: Here I Come” on March 20, one week before its original release date of March 27.
The upcoming film will see Samara Weaving reprise her role as Grace McCauley, and will also star Kathryn Newton, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Sean Hatosy, Nestor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, Olivia Chen, Nadeem Umar-Kitab, David Cronenberg, and Elijah Wood.
The original film portrayed McCauley as a young bride who is chased by her spouse’s wealthy family on her wedding night as part of a satanic ritual. The sequel picks up immediately after her fight for survival, with the film’s official logline stating, “Shortly after surviving an all-out attack from the Le Domas family, Grace finds herself reaching the next level of her nightmarish game, and now her estranged sister, Fu… With Ace (Newton) by her side, Grace has one chance to survive, keep her sister alive, and claim a senior seat on the council that rules the world. Four rival families are chasing her for the throne. Whoever wins rules all.”
“Ready or Not 2: Here I Come” is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillette and written by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. Tripp Vinson, James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Bradley J. Fisher serve as producers.
Ready or Not, which also starred Adam Brody, Andie MacDowell and Henry Czerny, cost $6 million to make and grossed $28 million domestically, making it Searchlight’s biggest release of 2019.
