Nicola Peltz and Victoria Beckham had issues with each other before their wedding drama, which Brooklyn cited in a recent social media rant.
“They can’t stand each other and don’t talk,” a source close to the family told Page Six in August 2022, noting that problems were already “brewing” before their April 2022 wedding in Florida.
“The lead-up to the wedding was terrifying,” they added.
The source further claimed that Peltz, 31, did not want Victoria to be part of the plan and did not hint at anything to her. Communication was minimal.
A source claimed there was “constant petty drama” between the aspiring chef, 26, and his parents David, 50, and Victoria Beckham, 51.
At the time, the source claimed that the former soccer player and fashion designer “hasn’t spoken to[Brooklyn]in months.”
Adding fuel to the fire, Brooklyn also shared the sultry cover of British magazine Tatler’s August 2022 issue, which dubs his model wife the “new Mrs. Beckham.”
Sources hinted that perhaps the “Bates Motel” actress experienced jealousy over the former Spice Girl’s various successes, especially when she tried to step out of the shadows for her own wedding.
Victoria, Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on Friday.
The Beckham family feud came to a head on Monday when the aspiring chef posted a six-page rant against David and Victoria on his Instagram Stories.
Among their crimes, he claimed, were “cancelling the production of Nicola’s (wedding) dress at the 11th hour, forcing her to rush to find a new one, despite how excited she was to wear her design” and controlling “press coverage of our family”.
Brooklyn also accused her mother of “hijacking” her first dance with Peltz and then “acting very inappropriately towards me in front of everyone.”
He added: “I have never felt so uncomfortable and humiliated in my entire life.”
A guest at the soiree previously told Page Six that after Marc Anthony, who performed at the wedding, invited “the most beautiful woman there” on stage, Victoria “went on stage and put her arm around Brooklyn” and “snuggled into his neck.”
“She was dancing with him very inappropriately,” they told Us, adding, “She stole the moment from Nicola. That’s God’s truth.”
But a butler who also attended the wedding told The Sun on Friday that Nicola was furious that Victoria was invited to the first dance as “the most beautiful woman in the room” and gave her new husband an ultimatum.
“After the wedding, Nicola has decided to go to Brooklyn. You have to choose between me or your mother,” the butler insisted. “Nicola is the problem and the reason Brooklyn and his parents don’t talk,” he added.
Either way, Brooklyn seems dedicated to supporting his exemplary wife amidst the conflict.
“I do not want to reconcile with my family,” he wrote in a statement that made headlines. “I’m not being controlled and I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
