Maura Higgins is keeping fans speculating about her cheating relationship with Traitors castmate Rob Roush. Viewers, social media users, and her own co-stars are practically begging the pair to come forward with the facts.
The Love Island UK alum, who took part in this season of Peacock’s hit reality competition, has undeniable chemistry with Love Island USA breakout star Roush, who is competing as a traitor in a Scottish castle.
Their hilarious banter and mutual admiration are particularly noted by Higgins’ castmates.
Still, Higgins insists romance was never on the table between them.
“We don’t talk about it,” she said on Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea,” discussing the possibility of dating Rausch in a joint interview with co-stars Dorinda Medley, Monet X. Change, Mark Ballas and Kristen Kish.
Still, that didn’t stop everyone around them from shipping the duo hard. According to Higgins, commentary was non-stop during filming.
“That’s all Rob and I had to hear in the castle – from everyone!” she says. “They were like, ‘You guys are so hot together.’
One of the loudest cheerleaders? None other than Medley. The former “Real Housewives of New York City” star, 62, didn’t mince words about her hopes for Higgins, 35, and Rausch, 27. It’s a few steps beyond mere showmance.
“I’m sure they’re going to have a baby,” Medley jokes. “They’re going to have the most gorgeous kids, smart, beautiful, athletic. So as far as I’m concerned, it’s a duty to the world.”
Doubling down on this sentiment with her signature flair, she added, “If the world were to end, this is what we want to put on ice for future generations.”
Inside the castle, Higgins’ loyalty to Rausch only fueled speculation. Believing he was competing as Faithful at the time, she was quick to defend him whenever his name was mentioned.
“What kind of person would I be if someone brought up Rob’s name to me? I would bite them,” Higgins recalls. “Don’t bring Rob’s name up to me. I had his back.”
Fans are also talking about what their connection will be like outside of the game, especially given both stars’ Love Island roots. Higgins didn’t hesitate when asked which co-stars he would most likely invite to the series’ iconic hideaway.
Page Six For the latest on reality TV…
“So it’s probably me and Rob, because we’re both from Love Island!” she says with a laugh.
As for whether their castle chemistry could turn into something more once the cape is off? Higgins continues to play it cool.
“Let’s see. I don’t know,” she teases. “The show isn’t over yet… it continues.”
Whether it’s romance, strategy, or just some high-class flirtation, one thing is clear: viewers, and at least one very passionate “housewife,” are completely invested in Maura and Rob’s story.
“The Traitors” is available to stream on Peacock.
