Taylor Swift called It Ends with Us director Justin Baldoni a “bitch” in a 2024 text exchange with Blake Lively, according to court documents obtained by Variety.
While discussing the pending New York Times bombshell reveal about Baldoni and Lively’s feud, Swift wrote to Lively, “This bitch took out the little violin so I think you know something is going to happen.”
A year ago, Lively called Baldoni “the stupid director of my movie” in a message to Swift, adding that he was a “clown” who “thinks he’s a writer now.”
A trove of court documents was filed Tuesday against Baldoni, including allegations of inappropriate on-set behavior by Lively and her Seraph of the End co-stars. The document detailed the deep creative rift between Lively and Baldoni during the development of “It Ends with Us,” as evidenced by texts between Lively and Swift. As a result, Ms. Lively made her own cut of the film, saying in a statement in court that Ms. Baldoni’s version “alienates the female characters” and “glorifies the abusers.”
Lively also refused to appear with Baldoni and producer Jamie Heath during the film’s promotion, accusing them of defaming her as punishment for her complaints.
“They painted themselves as victims and me as the bully,” she said. “I had no intention of personally endorsing Baldoni or Heath by appearing alongside them or promoting their films together.”
Lively sued Baldoni, his publicist, and the producers of It Ends with Us, alleging harassment and retaliation. The case is scheduled for trial on May 18th. Baldoni’s team filed a motion to dismiss Lively’s lawsuit, calling it a “minor grievance.” A public hearing on the motion will be held Thursday.
