“F1,” “Sinners,” “One Battle After Another,” “Frankenstein,” and “Mission: Impossible: The Last Judgment” are among the films nominated in the Cinema Audio Society’s live-action theatrical feature category.
Among the animated feature nominees were the sound teams for Elio, KPop Demon Hunters, Bad Guys 2, The SpongeBob SquarePants and Zootopia 2.
Sound Oscar combines sound mixing and sound editing. Film Sound Editors announced the nominations last week.
On the TV side, “Pluribus,” “Severance” and “Andor” are among the shows nominated by the sound team.
As previously announced, re-recording mixer Skip Lievsay, CAS (“Gravity,” “No Country for Old Men,” “Roma”) will receive the CAS Career Achievement Award. In addition, director Guillermo del Toro will receive the Cinema Audio Association Filmmaker Award.
The 62nd Annual Cinema Audio Society nominees recognize excellence in sound mixing expertise in both film and television, highlighting the outstanding contributions of sound mixers. Each year, seasoned CAS members with extensive expertise in the art and science of sound review hundreds of submissions to ensure that the nominees represent the highest standards of achievement in film sound.
“2025 demonstrated extraordinary range, ambition and artistry across the sound community,” said CAS President Peter Kurland. “From intimate, character-driven stories to large-scale spectacles, this year’s nominees demonstrate the impact of great sound mixing across film and television. Their work continues to advance this technology, and we are proud to celebrate their achievements.”
Five finalists will compete for the CAS Student Recognition Award, and the winner will be announced at the awards ceremony. The Cinema Audio Association will also introduce its newly elected Board of Directors at the ceremony.
