Chroma acquires ‘Mash Ville’, ‘Dead by Dawn’ and ‘Black Hole’

Genre distribution label Chroma has acquired the North American rights to three international feature films, including “Mash Ville,” described as a whiskey-soaked kimchi western that won the Best Director award at the Fantasia International Film Festival.

The Korean title will be the first release from the Chroma package and will be released digitally on January 23rd, followed by Poland’s Dead by Dawn and Estonia’s The Black Hole.

Directed by Hwang Wook, “Mash Ville” is a kimchi western about nine characters and a dead body whose conflicting goals escalate chaos, which Chroma describes as “Coen brothers meets Tarantino.” For this film, Hwang won the Best Director award at the Fantasia International Film Festival.

Writer-director David Tronet’s Dead by Dawn is a rare Giallo production from Poland that conveys theatrical horror through stylized visuals. After its world premiere at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, the film was screened at Morbido Fest, Screamfest, and Grimmfest, where it won Best Cinematography.

Moonike Siimetz’s Black Hole offers an absurdist, arthouse approach to science fiction through a trilogy structure that follows a small Estonian community dealing with extraterrestrials, giant spiders, and Austrians in pants after a black hole appears in a lilac bush. After its premiere at Fantastic Fest 2024, the film went on to win awards at Les Utopiales in France, Sonieretlisi Electric Dreams International Film Festival in Milan, Warsaw International Film Festival, Go East in Germany, Underground Film Festival in Calgary, and the European Film Festival Paric in Serbia.

Chroma negotiated contracts with The Coven for “Dead By Dawn,” EST Media for “Mash Ville,” and The Reel Suspects for “Black Hole.”

“One of the things that fuels Chroma’s passion for genre films is how powerfully it transcends language. These three international films immediately captivated us. They are engaging, funny, and wildly original in ways that instantly resonate with genre fans, proving that the best and wildest ideas transcend borders and cultures,” said Chroma Vice President Abra Perry. “Blood-curdling screams sound the same in every language, and Dead by Dawn, Black Hole, and Mash Ville push that universality to thrilling extremes. Adding these titles to the Chroma slate reflects exactly the exciting, impactful global storytelling we’re looking to release in 2026.”

Founded in 2025, Chroma operates as a US-based distribution label focused on science fiction and horror content. The company operates under Narrative Distribution, part of Narrative’s portfolio of companies, distributing titles across streaming platforms, trading outlets, broadcast channels, DVD retailers and airlines.
