Brooklyn Beckham says mother Victoria Beckham canceled wife Nicola Peltz’s wedding dress at the ’11th hour’

Brooklyn Beckham has addressed long-standing rumors about his 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz Beckham.

Brooklyn claims her mother canceled Nicola’s appearance at the “eleventh hour” after a source told PEOPLE in May 2025 that there was “tension between Brooklyn and Nicola and the family” that started after Victoria Beckham allegedly refused to make Nicola’s wedding dress.

Brooklyn broke her silence about her separation from her parents in a bombshell statement on her Instagram Stories on Monday, January 19th, claiming:

“My parents kept trying to break up my relationship even before our wedding, but they never stopped,” Brooklyn wrote. “Despite Nicola being so excited to wear her design, her mother canceled the production of Nicola’s dress at the 11th hour, leaving Nicola scrambling to find a new dress.”

Representatives for David and Victoria did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The Brooklyn couple tied the knot in April 2022 at their parents’ Palm Beach mansion. Nicola wore a custom Valentino haute couture dress to the ceremony, and told Vogue at the time that it was a “no-brainer” for her to match the fashion house.

In an interview with Variety magazine for the November 2022 Brooklyn special, Nicola denied rumors of a feud with her stepmother over clothing issues.

“I was going to wear[Victoria Beckham]and I really wanted to wear it, but after a few months she realized she couldn’t do it in her atelier and I had to choose another dress,” Nicola said. “She didn’t say I couldn’t wear it. I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. It started from there, and then they ran with it.”

Brooklyn also denied rumors of a feud, telling the media, “I’ve learned that they always try to write stuff like that. They always try to put people down. But we all get along, which is good.”

But in May 2025, a family source told PEOPLE that Victoria reportedly told Nicola she was going to make her wedding dress, but then called Nicola’s mother and told her she wouldn’t make the dress after all.

“Nicola was portrayed as a brat who didn’t wear Victoria Beckham to her wedding,” the source said, noting that Nicola wore Victoria’s designs to many events. “She wore Victoria Beckham clothes and went to a lot of Victoria Beckham fashion shows and events. She even wore Victoria Beckham to the movie premiere of Lola.”

Brooklyn went on to make further claims about her parents’ influence on her wedding day, claiming that her parents tried to bribe her to “relinquish rights” to her name ahead of the big day.

Rumors have been swirling for months about tensions between Brooklyn, Nicola, and his parents. Following Brooklyn and Nicola’s absence from David’s 50th birthday celebrations in 2025, a source close to the family tells PEOPLE that their relationship is “not beyond repair.”

David and Victoria, 50, “love[Brooklyn]and will always be there for her,” a source said at the time. “They’re just hurt and disappointed that he doesn’t play any role in their family life.”

In January, a source with knowledge of the situation told PEOPLE earlier this month that “David and Victoria have repeatedly asked Brooklyn and Nicola to meet and talk in order to move forward.”

“David loves his kids,” a source said of Brooklyn, his brothers Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 14. “They are everything to him.”
