Piers Morgan, 60, has been admitted to hospital after tripping on a “small step” and will need surgery.
The 60-year-old political commentator shared the news on Sunday by posting a selfie from his hospital bed giving a thumbs up.
In her caption, Morgan listed 10 points about what happened, why she needed surgery and who she jokingly blamed for the fall.
“‼️BREAKING NEWS‼️ 1. I tripped on a small step. 2. Inside a hotel restaurant in London. (🙄) 3. I fell down like a bag of spuds,” he wrote.
Morgan said the fall resulted in a “fracture of the neck of the femur” and “required a new hip.”
The British broadcaster said he is currently recovering in hospital, but will be on crutches for six weeks and prohibited from long-distance flights for three months.
“The new year is off to a tough start,” Morgan said, sarcastically ending the list with “blaming Donald Trump.”
The former editor of President Trump’s former reality show, The Apprentice, was previously a supporter of the US president, but regretted it after the January 6, 2021, riot.
Morgan spoke days after Trump’s supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol and violently attempted to block Congress from certifying then-President Joe Biden’s election victory.
“I never thought he could do this,” Morgan continued, according to the Independent. “He has defied the worst expectations of his worst critics…But I never imagined that this man I have known for 15 years would incite a mob to attack America’s Capitol and attack democracy itself. He not only crossed the line, he trampled that line in every way.”
The former “America’s Got Talent” judge also criticized Trump, 79, for his nonchalant posts about the December 2025 deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle.
Mr Morgan said on his TV show ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored’ that the comments ‘cross the lines of basic human decency’.
