Timothée Chalamet is becoming too much of a Dune, according to Chelsea Handler.
The comedian slammed Chalamet’s “Marty Supreme” press tour on Tuesday’s “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast.
When host Amanda Hirsch asked if he was taking acting promotions “too seriously,” Handler agreed, saying:
“It seems so.”
Former “Chelsea Lately” host, 50, explained: “He seemed pretty serious about winning and being recognized for his great performance.”
Although Handler made it clear that she believes Chalamet, 30, is a “great actor,” she said, “It’s hard to hear someone talk about how great his acting is.”
Hirsch, 37, agreed that Leonardo DiCaprio is her “gold star” when it comes to acting like a “real movie star” in Hollywood, and said the Oscar winner would never brag about his acting.
“Leo wouldn’t say that,” Hirsch insisted. “Even though it took him a long time to win, right? He didn’t win anything until the movie where he fought a bear (‘The Revenant’).”
Handler responded, “Leo wouldn’t do that. Leo’s a movie star. He doesn’t talk like that. That’s new. I’ve never heard actors talk like that.”
Hirsch speculated that Chalamet may have gone the “method” route and acted like his character, table tennis champion Marty Reisman, in interviews.
“That’s the only excuse I have,” she said.
Elsewhere in the episode, Hirsch and Handler discussed Chalamet declaring his love for girlfriend Kylie Jenner in his acceptance speech at the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards.
The comedian, who hosted the awards ceremony on January 4, said: “I don’t understand what that situation is. Is it a real situation? Are they in love? Are they a couple?”
After Hirsch explained why Chalamet’s public shout-out was a big deal for fans, she brought up a specific line in her speech: “I couldn’t do this without you.”
Handler called this “ridiculous” and “ridiculous” because “obviously he could have done[his career]without Jenner.”
She dismissed the excitement surrounding the couple, saying, “I don’t know what’s going on with these people, okay?”
Chalamet, who has been dating Jenner, 28, since 2023, once again mentioned the makeup mogul at the Golden Globe Awards over the weekend.
“To my parents and my partner, I love you. Thank you so much,” he said after winning the Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) award on Sunday.
The “Beautiful Boy” star also addressed past losses, saying, “(Thanks to gratitude) I’ve been able to leave this ceremony empty-handed in the past, with my head held high and grateful just to be here. But I’d be lying if I didn’t say those moments made this ceremony a lot less sweet.”
