Pitt star Noah Wyle took to the Golden Globes red carpet tonight to celebrate the medical drama’s awards season momentum. The actor wore an all-black double-breasted suit and posed alongside his wife Sarah Wells, who wore a strapless blue gown.
Wiley’s appearance was a landmark moment as he won the award for Best Male Actor in a TV Series or Drama. “This is a really humbling moment. Oh my gosh. I’m so grateful. I don’t know how to express my gratitude for 54 years in 60 seconds,” he said in his acceptance speech. “I am so grateful to so many people. I have been inspired by so many people and I am so honored that so many of them will be nominated tonight.”
He went on to give a special shout out to his wife and three children. “I have been supported by a wonderful wife and three wonderful children, and I am so grateful for them.”
The Pit also won in the Best Television Series – Drama category. However, the rest of the ensemble cast appears to have been absent from the Globes. They were not present, likely because no one else was nominated for an individual award and no honors were awarded. Invitations to this event are typically limited to candidates, presenters, and other selected guests.
Last year, Wiley spoke to Deadline about the show’s popularity and how it influenced his approach to season two. “That’s one of the things that makes the first season successful, when you walk into a room, are we going bigger, better, louder, faster?” he said. “Our job is not to surpass ourselves. Our job is to achieve ourselves. So think about what worked the first time and do it again. Don’t think about raising the bar for yourself.”
He added that the goal was for Pitt to remain “true to the characters” rather than pursuing spectacle. “Exciting things are going to happen, but we shouldn’t feel like we have to come out of the gate with a bang to get attention,” he said. “I’d like to talk about something else.”
The Globes win came days after Pitt returned for a second season on HBO Max. New episodes will continue to be released every Thursday. Here’s everything fans need to know about the latest installment.
