Katie Ginella announced Friday via social media that production on “The Real Housewives of Orange County” is no longer moving forward.
“After two seasons as a cast member on RHOC, the network has decided to move forward with Season 20 without me,” she wrote on Instagram. “It’s disappointing, but not at all surprising given how Season 19 unfolded.”
“I am so grateful for the love and support I received. It was seen, felt and deeply appreciated,” she continued.
“Representation matters, and I’m proud to have expressed it authentically, even if it wasn’t easy. This chapter may be ending, but my voice and my story don’t end there.”
She posted a snapshot of herself on set wearing a hot pink dress and looking serene. In the caption, she simply added an orange heart emoji.
Co-star Tamra Judge was the first to react in the comments section, writing, “I love you 🩷 I appreciate our friendship!”
The Bravo star’s husband, Matt Ginella, also offered support. “Love you more than ever. 🙏Move forward! (with a lot less tears and toxicity),” he wrote.
Some fans chimed in with heartbroken emojis, while another commented: “Aww Katy 😢😢 I loved what you brought to the table.”
Ginella, 41, joined the show in season 18, but although she maintained a friendship with Judge, she didn’t seem to be able to form a bond with the cast.
Ginella’s daughter famously clashed with Emily Simpson after she insulted the cast on social media, and on season 19 of RHOC, she was asked about leaking stories during a lie detector test and failed the test.
In August 2025, Bravolebrity asked co-stars Gretchen Rossi and Jennifer Pedranti to create a “hurtful” and racially insensitive social media video, which was “quickly deleted” after “a few hours.”
“There’s a very inappropriate video circulating of two girls squinting to Asian sounds, making Asian faces and pretending to be fighting,” she told Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” during an on-camera video at the time.
“This is extremely hurtful and inappropriate,” she added. “It’s 2025, so I think you should read the room.”
Ginella made her debut on “Real Housewives” in 2024, making history as the first Asian American to appear on “RHOC.”
“It really brought me back to when I was growing up,” she said of the video, which showed Rossi and Pedranti hitting each other with freestanding punching bags while mimicking martial arts moves and lip-syncing to stereotypical Asian voices.
Rossi also narrowed his eyes, looking like he was trying to make fun of the Asian’s physical features.
“You know, I’m the first Asian American in ‘Orange County.’ I’m the first Korean adoptee,” she said.
“And being chosen from this cast, the emotions and everything else is all too familiar.”
Pedranti did not comment at the time, but Rossi insisted the video was not directed at her co-stars.
“The video we created was not directed at Katie and was not meant to be hateful,” she said in a statement. “We immediately removed it after we were informed that it might be perceived as offensive.”
