When Zach Bryan recorded his new album, Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia was top of mind.
In the fiery lyrics of “Heaven on Top,” released Friday, the country singer appears to lash out at his ex-girlfriend on multiple songs.
The first obvious diss was on “Skin,” where Brian lamented how he would never “touch” anyone’s skin again and how he had “knifeed” his tattoos to “drain the blood between me and you.”
“How do tattoos penetrate the skin?” he continued. “Do your higher places ever sink? / Do you love people just to win when it’s over?”
In particular, LaPaglia has a saying: “How lucky are we?” She has a tattoo on her arm, which Brian later used as a line in 28.
Elsewhere in the new song, Brian asks, “Are you still talking bad about all your friends? / Now you’ve got to take it all in your chin with a stone-cold sobriety.”
The Grammy winner, who boasted two months of sobriety in November 2025, is apparently referencing the ex-couple’s post-concert encounter in Queens in 2023 in “Plastic Cigarettes.”
“You used to collect shells on the bay/You know I used to be a shell,” he sang. “I’m deeply trapped in someone else’s hands/My brother told me to leave/But I couldn’t believe the evil lurking within the people I met in Queens.”
He and the Barstool Sports personality declared divorce in October 2024, after which LaPaglia accused his ex-girlfriend of emotional abuse and offered her $12 million to keep quiet about their time together.
LaPaglia, who refused the money, is a social media influencer, and Bryan appears to have dissed LaPaglia on “Slicked Back.”
He seemed to compare LaPaglia to his wife, Samantha Leonard, who has shown off her art before, singing, “I knew people who put everything online, but you paint landscapes in the evening.”
In the same song, he continues, “You’re so cool in my living room / And when you slick your hair back and talk trash / If we go to hell or heaven, can I take my girlfriend with me? / ‘Cause she likes romance, good sex, music, and world domination.”
Representatives for LaPaglia and Bryan have not yet responded to Page Six’s request for comment.
Brian married Leonard, 28, in Spain in December 2025, five months after they went public with their relationship.
He also gushes about his partner in “Runny Eggs” and talks about his desire to “find a big-eyed Spanish woman” in Pamplona, where the two were officially recognized on Instagram this summer.
The songwriter recorded his sixth album “this winter across three different homes in Oklahoma,” and wrote on Instagram Friday that the record “liberated” him.
LaPaglia has yet to respond to the diss track, but on Thursday she hinted at a new romance via TikTok.
“Hey everyone, my boy is coming to stay at my house next weekend,” she told her followers. “There’s a lot I want to talk about.”
Earlier this month, she teased her ex-boyfriend’s marriage by lip-syncing the lyrics to Taylor Swift’s “Mastermind,” saying, “Checkmate, I couldn’t lose.”
