There are several theories online about why Ashley Tisdale was ostracized from the celebrity mom circle, including that her sympathetic response to Charlie Kirk’s assassination caused the rift.
But a source told Page Six: “It’s not just one particular thing, it’s a myriad of things.”
Tisdale wrote a confessional essay for New York Magazine about how the women in her circle, which reportedly included Hilary Duff, Meghan Trainor, Mandy Moore, and Gabby Dalkin, abruptly excluded her from the group for no apparent reason.
The prevailing theory seems to be that Tisdale’s mourning for the late Turning Point USA founder made his Hollywood friends uncomfortable.
After his death, Tisdale made a comparison to 9/11, saying, “Twenty-four years ago was a very different place than it is now. We used to come together as a country and grieve together, and today we see someone die and we condemn their politics and opinions. Everybody in that building had a different view and opinion. Once we stopped caring about the loss of life, we were done.”
In response to online backlash, the “High School Musical” star added, “It’s not supposed to be controversial to say this, but even if you disagree or are offended by someone’s opinion, violence is never the answer.”
She also said she “supports equal rights for all, including women’s rights, voting rights, and LGBTQ+ rights,” and supports “protecting reproductive rights and enforcing common-sense gun laws.”
However, sources say there was more than one reason for the split.
Singer Trainor appears to be friends with Tisdale, as he still follows her online.
But that didn’t stop the “All About That Bass” singer from weighing in on the conflict with her own questionable response. On Thursday, the singer took to TikTok to pair her 2025 song “Still Don’t Care” with a video clip. “Obviously looked into mom group drama,” Trainor wrote above the clip.
Meanwhile, Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, appeared to respond to Tisdale with his own mock-up of The Cut, which was praised by Moore hours after posting.
Above his thoughtfully posed portrait, a caption read: “Group of moms tells everything through dad’s eyes: When you’re the most self-centered tone-deaf person on the planet, other moms tend to shift their focus to their actual toddlers.”
The “Candy” singer reposted a photo of Koma at a benefit concert for L.A. wildfire victims he performed on Wednesday, writing, “@matthewkoma happens to be one of the most talented and generous human beings I’ve ever been lucky enough to know.”
“One year ago today, he literally gave my family a home when we evacuated,” she wrote.
Koma’s wife, Duff, clearly doesn’t care and is concentrating on her music. The singer teased a new song from her upcoming album, “luck… or something.”
Tisdale, who was previously described as “unbearable” within the group by those involved, also seems to have found peace amidst the drama. On Thursday, the Disney star turned wellness darling posted a photo of a calm ocean.
A representative for Tisdale had no comment.
