Buffalo 8 has acquired North American distribution rights to the gothic horror thriller “The Raven,” an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s narrative poems “The Raven” and “Annabel Lee.”
The film is set in the dark and shadowy world of the 1940s and follows a grieving man’s descent into madness hours after burying his beloved Annabel Lee. The appearance of a mysterious crow leaves him haunted by guilt, encounters with the supernatural, and the precarious line between life and death.
Directed and written by Emmy Award-winner Gregory J. Martin (The Bay), The Raven reunites Martin with multi-Emmy Award-winning actor Christos Andrews (Survive the Game, Breakout), with whom he collaborated on The Bay and the animated feature film Saurus City. (2025)
Starring alongside Andrews are Emmy Award winners Mike Manning (This Is Us and Beyond the Gates), Rae Dawn Chong (The Color Purple), and Tony Todd (Candyman and The Rock). “The Raven” will be the last film for prolific actor Todd, who passed away in November 2024.
“From an early age, I was a fan of classic horror films and the writings of Edgar Allan Poe,” Martin said in a statement via Instagram. “Our film, The Raven, draws on the romance and tragedy of Poe’s classic poems Annabel Lee, The Raven, and Lenore, extending the universal themes of Poe’s work for audiences in 2025.”
“The Raven” will be available for pre-order starting January 2, 2026 on Fandango at Home, followed by an on-demand release in the U.S. on Amazon, Fandango at Home, Verizon Fios, Hoopla, and major cable platforms on January 16, 2026, with additional territories and platforms added thereafter.
