No. 9 English series in Netflix history

Season 5 of “Stranger Things” joined Netflix’s list of the most popular English-language television titles of all time shortly after it became eligible for the release of the series finale on New Year’s Eve.

The season as a whole has been viewed 105.7 million times so far. Netflix creates its all-time list by counting the number of views each title has received in the first 91 days. For bulk releases like “Stranger Things,” plays are counted in the first 91 days of each volume. So, since the first episode of Stranger Things season 5 was released on November 26th, those four episodes will continue to receive chart viewership until February 24th, while the three episodes of Season 5 will be counted from December 25th to March 25th, and the final episode will be counted from December 31st to March 31st.

So there are three months left until Stranger Things Season 5 continues its climb to the top of the all-time charts. It currently sits at No. 9, knocking “Fool Me Once” off the charts and surpassing season 1 of “The Night Agent.” Stranger Things season 4, which was released in 2022, is currently in third place on the charts (140.7 million views), surpassed only by Wednesday season 1 (252.1 million views) and Adolescence (142.6 million views). Considering that Season 5 of Stranger Things was viewed 59.6 million times, the most ever for an English-language series on Netflix, it seems likely that the final installment of the sci-fi series could be ranked number one.

Unsurprisingly, “Stranger Things” Season 5 was the most-watched title for the week of Dec. 29 to Jan. 29. 4. The finale was available for viewing for 5 days and had a total of 31.5 million views. Although Netflix did not reveal viewership totals for just the final episode, it is worth noting that the weekly total would have been even higher had it not been for Netflix’s decision to simultaneously release the final episode in theaters, earning more than $25 million.

In addition, all previous seasons of Stranger Things have remained on the charts for six consecutive weeks, with Season 1 ranking third with 7.6 million views, Season 2 ranking fifth with 5.5 million views, Season 3 ranking seventh with 5 million views, and Season 4 ranking eighth with 4.8 million views.

In addition to “Stranger Things,” here are Netflix’s top 10 from December 29th to January. Issue 4 featured Harlan Coben’s “Run Away,” which debuted at No. 2 with 12.7 million views in the first four days of distribution. Season 5 of “Emily in Paris” ranked fourth on Chat with 7.4 million views in its third week. In 6th place was Ricky Gervais’ special “Mortality,” which received 5.1 million views in its first six days. “Man vs. Baby” entered its fourth week on the chart at No. 9 with 4 million plays, followed by “Dave Chappelle: The Unstoppable…” at No. 10 with 2.8 million plays.

Check out the Netflix Top 10 from December 29th to January. Below 4, we start with English shows and movies, followed by non-English shows and movies.
