If Cher could turn back time, she would choose a different partner than her former co-star Kristen Bell.
The 79-year-old music icon appeared on the Monday, Jan. 5 episode of Dax Shepard’s podcast “Armchair Expert,” where Shepard didn’t shy away from the fact that the “Believe” singer isn’t his biggest fan.
“Who would be her dream partner? ‘Cause I know you think she’s better, and I don’t think so either,” Shepherd said of his wife Belle, who appeared in the episode.
Cher didn’t have another person in mind for the Nobody Wants This star, but said, “The truth is, I trust her. So you’ve got to have something in you that I don’t see.”

Cher first met Bell during the filming of Burlesque in 2010. At the time, Cher and Shepard were already engaged. The couple officially married in 2013 and have daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11.
“We got along very well, we were very simpatico, and we had a lot of respect for her,” Cher said of how she and co-stars Christina Aguilera and Stanley Tucci met. “I didn’t know who she was, but she was a nice person.”

Shepard decided to sue and told the Grammy winner: “I’ll tell you what I want you to like about me. I’m not intimidated by her brilliance. I love it. The more she shines, the better.”
Cher pointed out that her longtime boyfriend, Alexander “A.E.” Edwards, has similar traits, saying, “Alexander has that too. The more I shine, the more he wins.”
Bell described it as “people who polish you to make you shine even more.”

At the end of the conversation, Shepard told Cher, “I respect you, and I understand that no one else is right for her.”
Bell told his co-stars that Shepard was “almost too good for me” and called him a “slow burn.”
“You seem like a good dad,” Cher told Shepard, to which Bell replied that Shepard was “the best dad ever.”
“When I have guests over, I put on a good show,” Shepherd joked about her parenting skills. “That was the first time I held my daughter in two years, just because you were here. I wanted to impress you.”
