Donald Trump attacks Kennedy home after Tatiana Schlossberg’s death

Just hours after President John F. Kennedy’s granddaughter Tatiana Schlossberg tragically passed away at the age of 35, Donald Trump caused a stir when he shared an exposé against the Kennedy family on Truth Social. Schlossberg, a former climate and energy reporter for the New York Times, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia after the birth of her daughter in 2024.

The message Trump reposted said: “The Trump family has always been a supporter of the arts. The Kennedy family has always been a supporter of the Kennedys.”

Another pointed out, “They’re not raising money for it. They never show up. And the only Kennedy who’s been there lately is part of Trump’s cabinet.”

Mr. Trump’s post did not refer to Mr. Schlossberg’s death, but rather to the drama surrounding Mr. Schlossberg’s continued occupation of the Kennedy Center. He changed the venue’s name to the “Donald J. Trump & John F. Kennedy Memorial Performing Arts Center” in mid-December, but there was much controversy and backlash from various members of the Kennedy family. His takeover has led to several scheduled artists canceling upcoming performances.

Even though President Trump did not address Schlossberg, many on social media found his timing dry and cruel as the Kennedy family mourns their loss. CNN’s Jake Tapper shared screenshots of President Kennedy’s bashing and posts, condemning President Trump’s actions at X. “Early afternoon ET, the Kennedy family announced that President JFK’s granddaughter Tatiana Schlossberg had died of cancer. Hours later, President Trump reposted social media trash attacking the Kennedy family.”

It’s not the first time this month that President Trump has made headlines by attacking a grieving family. The president’s attacks on director Rob Reiner following his death in early December sparked widespread backlash. President Trump claimed that Reiner’s death was “caused by the anger he caused others” by publicly speaking against Trump. Reiner’s son Nick was arrested in connection with his parents’ deaths. President Trump later called the filmmaker a “psychopath” who is “very bad for our country.”

“The Rob Reiner thing is not funny,” Joe Rogan recently said in opposition to Trump’s actions. “When you look at it without empathy, that’s when it’s hard to like. Listen, there’s no validity to anything he did that was meaningful in a caring society. It’s no different than the people who were celebrating when Charlie Kirk was shot. It’s the same kind of thing… it’s so unfortunate. Why… if you say that in private, that’s one thing, and it’s also crazy, but it’s so unfortunate.”
