Global luxury group Kering will screen “Hamnet” and “The Testament of Ang Lee” at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Saturday as part of its Talking Pictures program.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Women in Motion initiative, the two screenings will be followed by a Q&A with Hamnet director Chloé Zhao and Ang Lee’s Amanda Seyfried and Mona Fastvold. Variety’s Angelique Jackson will host.
Launched by Kering at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, Women In Motion celebrates women in film and the arts both in front of and behind the camera. The program recognizes influential figures while supporting emerging talent and fostering meaningful conversations about representation in culture.
Kering is also a presenting sponsor of the Palm Springs International Film Awards, which will be held on the same day. Honorees include Rose Byrne (Breakthrough Performance Award), Timothée Chalamet (Spotlight Award, Actor), Leonardo DiCaprio (Desert Palm Lifetime Achievement Award, Actor), Ethan Hawke (Career Achievement Award), Kate Hudson (Icon Award, Actress), Michael B. Jordan (Icon Award, Actor), Adam Sandler (Chairman’s Award), and Seyfried (Desert). Palm Achievement Award, Actress).
The awards will also honor “Frankenstein,” along with the Visionary Award honoring director Guillermo del Toro and actors Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth. Director Chao and actors Jesse Buckley and Paul Mescal won the Vanguard Award for Hamnet, while cast members Renate Reinve, Stellan Skarsgård, Inga Ybsdotter Lilleas, and Elle Fanning won the International Star Award for Sentimental Value.
