‘The X-Files’ to be streamed for free with ads on Pluto TV

“The X-Files” will be broadcast on Pluto TV and will be available to watch starting New Year’s Day.

The popular long-running sci-fi drama is already available to stream on Hulu and Disney+, but its addition to Paramount-owned Pluto TV will make it completely free to watch without ad breaks. In addition to on-demand viewing, “The X-Files” will also have a dedicated 24/7 linear channel within the sci-fi category on Pluto TV. The channel begins by running the entire series in chronological order, followed by select weekend marathons.

“The X-Files” first aired on Fox in 1993 and originally ran for nine seasons until 2002. 20th Century Fox released two “X-Files” movies in theaters in 1998 and 2008. The series was later revived for seasons 10 and 11, which aired on Fox in 2016 and 2018. All 11 seasons of 218 episodes will be included in Pluto. TV release.

The X-Files, produced by Chris Carter, stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI special agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, who investigate unsolved paranormal cases.

When naming The X-Files on its list of the 100 best TV series of all time for 2023, Variety wrote: But thanks to David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson (and their undeniable chemistry), fans kept hearing every surreal and fantastical quote from Mulder and Scully. Balancing a rich (if ultimately frustrating) mythology with a famous “Monster of the Week” episode, and Duchovny’s true believer with Anderson’s perpetually shocked skeptic, “The X-Files” was a clever, glossy mixture of FBI work and the infinite possibilities of the universe. It was successful enough to last for nine seasons, two movies and a revival for two more seasons, and many fans still believe the truth is out there. ”

In addition to “The X-Files,” other sci-fi series that have dedicated channels on Pluto TV include “Star Trek,” “The Twilight Zone,” “Stargate” and “Doctor Who.”
