Miranda Lambert is grieving for her beloved Chihuahua, who has been by her side for 15 years.
On Sunday, Dec. 28, the 42-year-old country singer took to Instagram to share a collection of photos and videos taken over the years of her holding her beloved dog, Cher, while announcing that the dog had passed away the day before.
One photo showed Lambert cuddling a dog in the press room at the 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM), and another photo showed her cuddling a dog outside on a sunny day.
“Our sweet bear Cher crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday,” Lambert wrote in a tribute. “Cher gave us 15 years of love and all the Chihuahua attitude and energy she had to offer. And if you’ve ever had a Chi Chi, you’ll know what I mean.”

Lambert recalled carrying the dog in her pocket when she adopted it from a shelter in 2010. Cher was only 10 weeks old at the time.
She soon began taking Cher to events, matching Cher’s dress to the dog while attending the ACM Awards in Las Vegas that same year. The “The House That Built Me” singer said she took her dog with her on every tour after that.
“Thank you for the miles she covered and for her kind heart,” Lambert continued in her eulogy, adding that when she met Brendan McLoughlin seven years ago, she had nine rescue dogs.

The couple, who married privately in January 2019, currently only have one rescue dog left. Lambert also posted videos of her doing push-ups with Cher on her back and of her playing with other dogs.
“I’m sure we’re all ready to move on from heartbreak, but those tears are worth every tear we shed,” the Grammy winner added about the rescue dog. “Animals bring us so much joy and I truly wish the dog’s years hadn’t passed so quickly. Rescues are forever ❤️”
The longtime shelter animal advocate ended her post with a photo of Cher, a Chihuahua, and Bellamy, a rescue retriever mix she adopted in 2013.
Just last month, Lambert revealed on Instagram that her two miniature horses, Sugar Pie and Adrianna, died on the same day.
She shared several photos with the animals, expressing the “joy” they have brought her over the past 18 years.
“The best part about being an animal mom is the joy. The worst part is when it’s time to say goodbye,” Lambert said, adding, “Godspeed little ones. I know you’re both in greener pastures right now as I type this. See you someday. Much love 🩵🐴🐴🥲💔.”
