James Cameron’s “Avatar: Fire and Ash” continued to dominate the South Korean box office in the Dec. 26-28 slot, grossing $8.6 million with more than 1 million admissions, according to KOBIS, a tracking service run by the Korea Film Council. The film has currently grossed $32.5 million.

Zootopia 2 remains a strong No. 2, adding $3 million over the weekend for a total of $50.3 million. The sequel currently has over 7.4 million admissions, cementing its place as one of the highest-performing imported animated releases of 2025.

In third place was the Korean romantic drama “Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight”, which debuted with $1.2 million. The film, directed by Kim Hye-young and based on the novel by Misaki Ichijo, stars Ju Young-woo and Shin Si-ah, and depicts a bittersweet high school romance centered around a girl with anterograde amnesia whose memory is reset every morning. The film grossed $2.5 million in its first five days of release.

The Japanese animated film “Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Super Hot! Spicy Kasukabe Dancers” followed in fourth place, with box office revenue of $773,000 and a cumulative total of $1.8 million.

Local family title Pororo the Movie: Sweet Castle Adventure took fifth place, adding $147,000 to reach $1.2 million. The comedy-drama “The People Upstairs” continued to maintain its stable position at 6th place, boosting its cumulative box office revenue to $3.6 million. Directed by Ha Jung-woo and starring Gong Hyo-jin, Kim Dong-wook, Lee Ha-ni, and Ha Jung-woo himself, the film follows a downstairs couple who are exhausted by the constant noise from their upstairs neighbors. A tense dinner to resolve issues quickly turns into an evening of sharp confessions and shifting dynamics.

Stephen King’s The Life of Chuck came in at No. 7 with $43,642, while Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 added $38,622 for a total of $1.5 million.

Rounding out the chart were the Japanese anthology specials “Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 Part-1” and “Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 Part-2,” which earned $44,274 and $44,473, respectively.

Over the weekend of December 26-28, the top 10 films grossed $14.02 million, down slightly from last weekend’s $15.2 million.
