BritBox has promoted Alana McGaughey to senior vice president of public relations and communications for the British TV streamer’s North American division.
McGaughey, who joined Britbox in December 2023 and most recently served as vice president of global PR and communications, will continue to lead Britbox’s public affairs, corporate communications, events, talent relations and awards in North America, with expanded responsibilities to “support the development of new podcasts and other fan-focused projects and play a key role in driving Britbox’s fandom and audience engagement strategy.”
During McGaughey’s tenure, Britbox received significant media attention, with Outrageous being selected for the Tribeca Film Festival for the first time in June 2024. Mr. McGaughey also led campaigns for series such as Cruel Love: The Story of Ruth Ellis, Ludwig, Agatha Christie’s Toward Zero and Blue Lights.
Prior to joining BritBox, McGaughey worked in series promotion at Netflix, leading promotional campaigns for the limited series “All the Light We Cannot See” and final seasons “Ozark” and “Manifest.” Prior to that, McGaughey was at Starz, where he oversaw promotion for originals such as Outlander and the Power series.
Previously, McGaughey held roles on Bravo, 42 West, and Focus features.
“Alana’s creativity, strategic excellence and leadership have redefined how Britbox connects with our audiences, talent, partners and media,” said Diana Pessin, Chief Marketing Officer at Britbox. “Her ability to elevate our brand’s story while driving tangible results has been exceptional. This promotion reflects her vision and influence, and we’re excited to see her continue to shape Britbox’s story as we enter our next phase of growth.”
