Netflix has released the trailer for Diddy: The Reckoning, a four-part documentary series from executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Emmy Award-winning director Alexandria Stapleton that examines the rise and fall of Sean Combs. The series’ official synopsis calls it a “surprising investigation into a media mogul, a music legend, and a convicted criminal.” Combs was found guilty earlier this year on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, but avoided the most serious charges, two counts of sex trafficking and one count of racketeering, pending trial.

The new trailer begins with footage of Diddy telling someone on the phone, six days before his arrest in September 2024, “I’ve worked in the dirtiest business, and I need to find someone to work with me. We’re losing.” Later in the trailer, a presumably young Diddy can be heard saying, “There are bad people and good people in life. You have to choose your side.”

Director Alexandria Stapleton told Tudham, “As a woman in the industry, having lived through the #MeToo movement, watching the biggest names in music and film go to trial, and wanting to know what the outcome was…When Cassie dropped the case, I thought this could go in a million different directions.” “I wondered how she could have the confidence to take on such a big name like Sean Combs. As a filmmaker, I knew right away that this was a stress test to see if we could handle these allegations in a fair way and if we had changed as a culture.”

“This is not just about Sean Combs’ story or Cassie’s story or the victim’s story or the charges against him or the trial,” she added. “Ultimately, this story is a mirror to who we are as a public and what we say when we hold celebrities in high positions. I hope[this documentary]serves as a wake-up call to understand how we idolize people and that everyone is human.”

According to Netflix, “This docuseries features intimate footage shot with Combs’ knowledge in the six days leading up to his arrest and indictment, when Combs was under federal investigation.” The series will also include interviews with a variety of subjects, including Danity Kane member Aubrey O’Day and a juror who attended Combs’ trial earlier this year.

“Sean Combs: The Reckoning” premieres on Netflix on December 2nd. Watch the trailer below.
