Billy Crudup has given a rare glimpse into his co-parenting relationship with ex Mary-Louise Parker, 22 years after he left her for Claire Danes.
“Well, I’m not going to comment on anything about us, but…” Crudup told the Times in an interview published Thursday.
The “Weeds” star, who dated Crudup for seven years, was seven months pregnant when she started dating her “Stage Beauty” co-star.
Crudup and Parker’s son, 21-year-old William Atticus Parker, has followed in his parents’ footsteps and is now a writer, director, and actor.
“The fusion of the two of us gave him superpowers for theatricality,” Crudup told the outlet.
“He’s a really bad guy,” he added. “Mary-Louise and I appeared in most of his movies.”
A representative for Parker did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Crudup, now 57, and Parker, 61, met in 1996 as co-stars on the Broadway show “Bus Stop.”
The “Morning Show” actor met Danes, who was dating Ben Lee at the time, in 2003, and they went public with their relationship in 2004 after their mutual partners broke up.
Danes and Crudup went their separate ways in 2007, but their highly publicized romance left an impression on everyone involved.
Danes later told Howard Stern that when she fell in love with Crudup, she had “no idea what it was going to turn out to be.”
“I have to live with the mistakes I made,” Crudup told The Times in 2017.
Meanwhile, Parker detailed her breakup in her 2015 memoir, “Dear Mr. You.”
“I’m pregnant and alone. It hurts to even breathe,” she wrote in part via a note to the taxi driver who took her to the hospital.
In 2007, Parker welcomed an adopted daughter, Ash, 18, from Ethiopia, and was briefly engaged to Weeds co-star Jeffrey Dean Morgan in 2008.
Ms Danes, now 46, married Hugh Dancy in 2009 and the couple have since had three children.
Crudup married Oscar winner Naomi Watts in 2023, but despite their checkered past, Parker had nothing but words of support for Crudup and Watts.
“I wish them all the best,” Parker told the Guardian.
“Of course, I honestly wish them the best, because that’s the father of my son. So I’m happy for them. I’m glad they found each other.”
