Mia Thornton was sued for eviction weeks before she was arrested for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of furniture from the luxury condominium she rented.
The company, Encore Management, filed a lawsuit on September 11 against Thornton and her ex-boyfriend and roommate, Jared McGriff.
In court documents reviewed by Page Six, the company alleges that Thornton and McGriff rented the property and “failed to pay rent” on the Atlanta unit.
Encore Management demanded the duo’s eviction and payment of $5,100 in back rent for September, plus $6,085 per month until the date of judgment.
The reality star and her boyfriend have not responded to the lawsuit. Us Weekly first reported the eviction.
Page Six reached out to Thornton’s contact information, but did not immediately receive a response.
On Wednesday, the “Real Housewives of Potomac” alum was arrested at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport after law enforcement was called to Customs and Border Protection, where she was informed that she was a wanted person.
Thornton is accused of stealing $11,000 worth of furniture from the same condominium where he failed to pay rent, according to a police report obtained by CBS News.
The condominium manager claimed in the report that Thornton “suddenly left the room in the middle of the night” without notice on Oct. 28.
Police body camera footage showed Thornton telling police he knew there was a warrant out for his arrest.
Thornton announced his departure from RHOP in April after appearing on the series for four seasons.
In her announcement, she also revealed she was moving to Atlanta, jokingly telling the city to “brace yourselves” as she plans to “expand her empire” there.
