Brendan Fraser says the fourth installment of the Hamunaptra series will finally “give fans what they want”.
Fraser, 56, opened up about the upcoming fourth film in the series in a new interview with The Associated Press. “What I wanted to make was never made,” he said at length about the hit action-adventure film.
“I’m proud of the third film, because I think it’s a great independent film,” the Oscar winner told the magazine. “We did the same thing with another crew on deck and hoped for the best. But what I wanted to make was just around the corner. And I’ve been waiting for this call for 20 years. Sometimes it was a loud bang, sometimes it was a faint telegram. Come on? It’s time to give the fans what they want.”
In July, 26 years after the first film was released in 1999, the cast of The Mummy had a huge reunion.

Fraser (Rick O’Connell), Patricia Velasquez (Anku Su Namun), John Hannah (Jonathan Carnahan), and Oded Fehr (Ardeth Bey) were photographed together at the 2025 Fan Expo in Denver on July 6th.
Rachel Weisz (Evelyn Carnahan) and Arnold Vosloo (Imhotep, the mummy of the title) were conspicuously absent from the photo. According to Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, Weisz did not attend the reunion, but is reportedly in talks to appear in the fourth film.

Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillette are reportedly set to direct the film. They previously directed recent horror films such as Ready or Not, the Scream reboot, and Abigail.
The film’s plot details and release date have not been disclosed.
