Disney’s “Predator: Badlands” dominated the UK and Ireland box office with an opening gross of 2.3 million pounds (approximately 310 million yen), according to ComScore.
This exciting entry into the series easily surpassed Sony’s “The Choral,” which debuted at No. 2 with $1.2 million. Paramount’s “Regretting You” came in third with $1.04 million, bringing its total box office gross to $6.9 million.
Universal’s “Bugonia” came in fourth with $723,160 for a total of $2.7 million. Mubi’s “Die My Love” debuted at No. 5 with $521,574. Disney’s “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere” came in sixth place with $437,199, bringing the total to $4.7 million.
Universal’s “Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie” came in at No. 7, earning $406,590 for a total of $7.4 million. Studiocanal’s “I Swear” follows in eighth place with $359,605 and now stands at $7.3 million.
Paramount’s “Paw Patrol Christmas” came in ninth place with $329,216, while Sony’s “Chainsaw Man: The Movie: Red Edition” rounded out the top 10 with $248,872 and a total of $3.3 million.
Among upcoming releases, Paramount’s “Running Man,” directed by Edgar Wright, will be a big opener, opening in more than 300 locations. Trafalgar Releasing releases Black Bear, which includes the latest BTS concert film “J-Hope Tour ‘Hope on the Stage’ The Movie,” scheduled for worldwide release, and the folk horror “Keeper.”
CinemaLive will present John Cleese Pax It In, a film version of the comedy legend’s stage show, and Lionsgate will release the latest in its Illusionist caper series, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. Sony will release “Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution,” which is expected to continue the anime’s box office momentum, while Studio Canal will compete with “Nuremberg,” a courtroom drama starring Russell Crowe and Rami Malek.
Other titles include Radiance’s re-release of 1980’s “Night of the Juggler” and Munro’s Hong Kong drama “Valley of the Shadow of Death.” Event screenings range from 4K restorations of “The Wild Geese” and “City on Fire” to the concert film “Harley Flanagan: Wired for Chaos.” Netflix adds ‘Left-Handed Girl’ and ‘Jay Kelly’ to strengthen its streaming edge.
This week also sees the release of Yash Raj Films’ ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ and True Brit Entertainment’s ‘Christmas Karma’. Other titles include Schendel Films’ “Tony Foster: Painting at the Edge,” Dogwoof’s “Predators,” Curzon’s “Alpha” and Olympic Films’ “Park Avenue.” Rounding out the week is Anime Ltd’s “100 Meters,” scheduled for a Sunday-only release.
