The 79-year-old president was met with loud boos and some cheers from some attendees when he was shown late in the first half of the Washington, D.C.-Detroit game on Sunday, Nov. 9, as seen in a video shared online. Trump was standing in his suite with House Speaker Mike Johnson.

Later in the evening, when the politician was introduced by the stadium announcer at half-time, he received the same reaction.

As a mix of supporters and detractors roared at Commanders Northwest Stadium, President Trump read the oath of military service to military personnel on the field.

By attending the game between the Commanders and the Lions, Trump became the first sitting president to attend an NFL regular season game in nearly 50 years.

The last person to do so was Jimmy Carter in 1978, and before that it was Richard Nixon in 1969, the Associated Press reported.

According to the newspaper, Trump became the first president to attend the Super Bowl while in office in February. At the time, he was watching the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22.
