20th Century Studio’s “Predator: Badlands” debuted at No. 1 with RMB 52.5 million ($7.4 million) over the weekend of November 3-9, returning Hollywood to the top spot at the Chinese box office, according to Artisan Gateway.
With a total gross of $80 million, “Predator: Badlands” is currently the No. 1 movie in the world, according to ComScore.
PMF Pictures’ “Row to Win” came in second with $2.2 million, for a total of $60.6 million. The comedy-drama, directed by Ma Lin and starring Fan Bo, Fang Chengchen, Ying Tao and Li Jia-Chi, follows a family in a coastal town led by a once-strong patriarch who band together during difficult times to try to make a comeback.
Maoyan Movie’s “Her Turn,” which topped last week, ranked third and added $2.1 million, bringing it to $8.9 million two weeks later. The thriller is directed by Chen Yanan and stars Li Genshi, Deng Jiajia, Liu Yitian, Huang Xiaomin, and Yue Jiayi. The story is about a paraplegic woman who returns to her family’s secluded mansion to uncover long-buried secrets and revenge plans years in the making.
Mint Pictures’ “The Sun Rises On Us All” came in fourth with $1.8 million. Directed by Tsai Shangjun, the romantic drama stars Xin Zhilei and Zhang Songwen, who won the Venice Film Festival Best Actress Award for their role in the film, as estranged lovers forced to forget old wounds and buried regrets after years apart.
In fifth place, 66cc Co. Ltd.’s feature film “Penguin Girl” launched with $1.6 million. Directed by Yang Yuyu, the film follows Moon, a penguin-obsessed young woman who believes she will find true love in Antarctica, until an encounter with an eccentric man in a penguin costume changes her understanding of commitment and dreams.
The weekend’s box office revenue totaled $21.7 million, the same level as last weekend, and China’s cumulative 2025 total was $6.32 billion, an increase of 15.3% year-on-year.
