Adam Driver will star in Netflix’s hostage drama series Rabbit Rabbit.

The show was written by Peter Craig (The Town, The Batman) and directed by Philippe Ballantini, who won an Emmy Award for his work directing the Netflix limited series Adolescence. He comes from independent film and television studio MRC, which has a first-look deal with Craig.

“Rabbit, Rabbit” follows an escaped prisoner who is cornered by law enforcement at a truck stop and takes hostages in order to negotiate for his freedom. According to the logline, the confrontation quickly escalates into “an unruly social experiment with the prisoners” and “an emotional poker match with veteran FBI crisis negotiators trained in ‘tactical empathy.'”

Netflix said the series order was won after “intense competition” with other distributors.

Craig is the series’ showrunner, writer, and creator, and executive produces alongside director Barantini, Driver, his girlfriend Samantha Beddeau, Barantini’s It’s All Made Up Productions, and Brian Unkeless under his and Craig’s Night Owl banners.

Craig wrote the script for “Top Gun: Maverick” and created the Apple TV series “Dope Thief,” starring Brian Tyree Henry. He began his career writing the screenplay for Ben Affleck’s The Town.

Ballantini appeared as an actor in films such as “Band of Brothers,” “The Dream Team,” “Chernobyl,” and “Ned Kelly,” before turning to directing. His first feature film was “Villain,” starring Craig Fairbrass, and he later adapted his short film into a feature film, “Boiling Point,” starring Stephen Graham, which was shot in one take. The two collaborate again using the same format on “Adolescent,” a gripping drama consisting of four episodes, each filmed in one take. The series was nominated for 13 Emmy Awards and won eight times.

Driver is known for his role as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars series, as well as roles in Marriage Story, Ferrari, House of Gucci and HBO’s Girls.
