Eva Longoria in talks to star in George Clooney’s “Call My Agent”

The highly anticipated spin-off of the French hit show “Call My Agent” is sure to have a fascinating flavor.

Variety has reported that Eva Longoria is in talks to star in a film produced by Media One, after George Clooney broke the news over the weekend that he would make a cameo appearance in a Netflix original movie while promoting Jay Kelly.

Netflix declined to comment on Longoria’s casting, but confirmed that Clooney has co-starred with popular French actors, including Laurent Laffite (The Count of Monte Cristo). As previously announced, Laetitia Casta (“Concept”) and Vincent Macaigne (“Irma Vep”) will also star.

The featurette, titled “Call My Agent,” will also see the return of some of the favorites from the international Emmy Award-winning series, including Camille Cotin who plays the fearless and humorous talent agent Andrea Martel, as well as Laure Calamy, Grégory Montel, Thibaut de Montalembert, Nicolas Maury, Fanny Sidney, Lillian Lovere, Ophelia Kolb and Anne Marivin.

The series ended in 2020 on a bittersweet note after four seasons, with Andrea retiring from the industry to focus on family life and grieving over the fate of her talent agency ASK, which she was unable to save.

Written by series creator, writer, and showrunner Fanny Herrero, the film takes place five years in the future and sees Andrea return to the industry, this time behind the camera as an up-and-coming director. But in typical Andrea style, there’s still some drama involved. “After losing her lead actor days before filming begins, she must reunite her old team, and old friendships and rivalries emerge,” the synopsis reads.

Most of the main French cast of “Call My Agent” got their breaks and their careers took off thanks to their performances on the show. Cottin, for example, has become one of France’s best-known actors, having worked with international filmmakers such as Michael Mann (Allied), Ridley Scott (The House of Gucci), Tom McCarthy (Stillwater) and showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Killing Eve). Meanwhile, Calamy won the César Award in 2020 for her role in Antoinette Dans Les Cévennes and has since been nominated for Best Actress twice, in 2022 and 2023.

“Call My Agent” has also become a cultural phenomenon, with regional versions featuring top talent produced in many countries including the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Germany, South Korea, Indonesia, the Middle East, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Poland.

The film is produced by Media One-owned Mont Voisin Productions and Mother Productions, with participation from French broadcaster France Télévision. The latter co-developed and commissioned the series in 2015, before Netflix came on board.
