Distributor Beta Cinema has participated in “Operation Napoleon – Tears of the Wolf,” the sequel to the blockbuster Scandinavian adventure “Operation Napoleon,” which was released by Magnolia and sold in over 40 countries including the United States. Beta will go on sale at the American Film Market in Los Angeles.

In Operation Napoleon – Wolf’s Tears, Christine and her team set out to search for Wolf’s Tears, the Nazis’ legendary diamond cache hidden during World War II. Witnessing the murder, Christine discovers the first clues and works with Steve and Einar to decipher fragmentary war artifacts, lost notes, and encrypted codes.

Their journey spans Iceland, Finland, and Germany, culminating in a high-stakes chase through Helsinki’s underground bunker system and a dramatic showdown on the Finnish Islands. Hunted by brutal mercenaries and deadly assassins, the trio must navigate twists, betrayals, and historical secrets buried deep in Europe’s past.

Finnish director Jiri Kähenen (Trackers, Bordertown, Ikhon Ara) directs the English-language thriller, working from a screenplay once again written by Martin Tollison (Operation Napoleon, Jack Taylor, Nico).

The cast includes returning cast members Vivian Ólafsdóttir (Hatched, Reykjavík 112), Jack Fox (Riviera, Sanditon, Cheetahs), and Icelandic acting icon Ólafur Dari Ólafsson (Severance, Trapped, True Detective, Fantastic Beasts). They are joined by Tom Weston-Jones (True Things, Warrior, Copper) and Laura Byrne (Void, The Crow, A Walk Among the Tombstones, Foundation).

The film is being filmed until November 21 in Finland, Iceland, and Turku, an archipelago region of Hamburg.

Anita Ersani and Alexander Klein of Germany’s Splendid Entertainment and Kjartan Thor Thordarson of Iceland’s Sagafilm will produce with co-production partners Take-Two Studio and Ersani Film. This production is supported by Moin Filmfund, Business Finland and the Icelandic Ministry of Industry and Innovation.

Sam Film will be released theatrically in Iceland and Splendid Film will be released theatrically in Germany.

Mr. Ersani said, “The response to the first Operation Napoleon was truly overwhelming. The film was a real box office hit in Iceland, and Beta Cinema sold the title to over 40 countries around the world, including the United States (Magnolia). What’s more, it performed very well across ZDF and SVOD platforms. This strong domestic and international response fills us with confidence and enthusiasm for the sequel.”

Klein added: “Operation Napoleon was one of Splendid’s most successful titles last year, outselling major U.S. releases in the German VOD market. We are very much looking forward to the second installment, which we developed from the ground up as an original story.”
