Wanya Morris debunks Rosanda “Chili” Thomas’ claims that Boyz II Men once decided they didn’t need Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds.
On Tuesday, October 21, Morris came across a 2017 interview clip in which Chili suggested that the boy band known for their harmonies (fans believe they were Boyz II Men) once decided they didn’t need to work with the babyfaces anymore and subsequently faced a career downturn. Morris shared his thoughts in the comments section.
Chiles, 54, said in the video that this “certain group” “made it big with Babyface,” who performed with Boyz II Men several times in the ’90s, including on their 1994 diamond-certified album “II.”
“(They) said, ‘We don’t need a babyface,’ and that was that,” Chili said in an interview posted on his Instagram account nostalgiamoments on October 20.

“It’s not that this artist didn’t have talent, but he failed because he thought he could do it on his own,” he added, apparently referring to the Boyz II Men member. “As long as you’re alive, there’s always something to learn.”
Boyz II Men member Morris then referenced late TLC member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez, commenting, “Damn sis😢Lisa would never🥺???”
In an attempt to debunk her claims, Morris further explained that Chilis “couldn’t hear comments like that anywhere in our organization.”
“Brother, I’m trying to understand where she heard this from…Chili was nowhere in our organization…and we were nowhere in theirs. Other than going on tour 🤔,” Morris, 52, wrote. “I keep watching this and it shocks me every time 🤯🤷🏾♂️”
Morris also wrote that he intended to “call Babyface tomorrow to see if he remembered saying the band ‘didn’t need him.'”
“Especially because he’s been involved in every project since 🤷🏾♂️,” he continued.
In another comment, Morris said he wanted his arguments to be “heard as much as theirs.”
“The only thing is, they talked about the situation, but we didn’t… I’m not saying we were perfect and everyone loved us, or should have loved us, or should love us now 🤷🏾♂️ I’m just saying what Chili’s and Dallas are saying about our friend Babyface is… a lie 😂😂,” he wrote.
TLC and Boyz II Men toured together in 1990 as the opening act for MC Hammer’s Too Legal to Quit Tour. In 1995, the band co-headlined the Budweiser Superfest Tour. And in 2022, both bands have joined forces for a double bill at the Hollywood Bowl.
