Jon Stewart slams FOX News’ response to No Kings protests

On this week’s episode of “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart criticized Fox News’ wishful response to Saturday’s No Kings protests.

Stewart began his monologue with footage of House Speaker Mike Johnson calling the No Kings protests a “Hate America rally” and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent calling the participants “the most left-wing, most hard-nosed, most free-spirited people in the Democratic Party.”

“Not the most hardcore! I was expecting partial Marxism and hardcore, but it wasn’t a full representation of the most hardcore Marxism,” Stewart joked. “It’s going to be like Mad Max with Chuck Schumer playing fiery guitars!”

“So this weekend we sat in our bunkers, doors locked, windows boarded up, muskets and cyanide tablets at the ready, ready for whatever the strongest core would have in store for us. Do the worst, be the best at Marxism!”

Stewart then cut to a CNN report that claimed some 7 million people had taken part in nationwide demonstrations and that the protests were “mostly peaceful” and “often fun.”

“It was an incredible turnout and it was a little emotional. Seven million Americans and zero mass shootings?” Stewart said. “I hope the Republican Party sincerely apologizes for suggesting that these Americans are… What’s the word I’m looking for? Deplorable!”

Back on Fox News, the anchor called the participants “stupid” and “stupid.” One commentator said the protests “don’t look serious” because of the “absurd costumes”.

“Brace yourselves, Fox,” Stewart said. “You were complaining that it was going to be a horrible ‘pants-removal’ protest, and now you’re complaining about what a boring pant-removal it was? Even though one of the pants you chose was one you felt was really off-brand.”

Stewart then targeted another complaint on Fox News. The idea was that the No Kings protest movement was made up mostly of “older white people.”

“Plus, now you know everything! ‘There are too many angry old white men in this country,’ says Fox News — wait a minute,” Stewart joked. “Fox News is saying, ‘Why are old white people so angry?'” Fox News is angry that there are so many old white people in America. ”
