McGregor receives lifetime honors
Ewan McGregor is to be awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Film and Television Award by BAFTA Scotland. The Perthshire-born actor became famous for his roles in Trainspotting and Moulin Rouge over a career spanning more than 30 years. “Brassed Off,” “Shallow Grave,” the “Star Wars” series, and many more. McGregor has previously been honored by BAFTA Scotland, winning for his roles in Trainspotting in 1996 and Young Adam in 2003. The Outstanding Achievement honor will be presented at the BAFTA Scotland Awards ceremony in Glasgow on Sunday 16 November.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be selected for this year’s Scottish Special Award at the BAFTAs. I’m looking forward to going to the event and meeting my colleagues there,” Mr McGregor said. “I can’t believe that something like this will lead to a new collaboration! Thank you, BAFTA Scotland.”

From his iconic performances to his advocacy and humanitarian work with UNICEF UK, Ewan has made a remarkable impact on and off screen.”
AFM team participates in Marche
American Film Market and Cannes’ Marche du Film are collaborating on both an innovation hub and an AI-focused program at the 2025 AFM this November. The success of Cannes Next, the marque’s innovation focus, reportedly prompted the two markets to embrace this new initiative. The Innovation Hub will focus on creative and business technology tools that support content development, financing, and production. Designed as both an exhibition and an ideas forum, the event will showcase companies working in the fields of creativity, commerce and technology, and connect AFM attendees with innovators in the fields of technology, media and entertainment. Speakers at two AI sessions as part of the collaboration include Darren Frankel, head of film and television at Adobe, Scott Martin from Aspen IP Consulting, and Lori McCreary, CEO of Revelations Entertainment.
Elsewhere at AFM, “Weapons” producers and executives from Blumhouse, Pressman Films and UTA will participate in sessions.
WBD Reggs TLC
Warner Bros. Discovery is relaunching its TLC channel as Free-to-Air (FTA) in the UK. The new TLC will launch with shows such as “The Big Bang Theory,” “Young Sheldon,” “Georgie and Mandy’s First Wedding,” and “Mike and Molly,” with the new content representing the largest order for scripted entertainment across WBD’s FTA line. In addition to the acquisition, new original programming will include a reboot of the British satirical show “Mock the Week” and “Zero Stars,” starring comedians. Roisin Conaty and Sarah Pascoe.
TLC is scheduled to air free-to-air in January, by which time WBD’s UK FTA portfolio will consist of six channels: Quest, Quest Red, Food Network and DMAX, in addition to TLC and Really. Meanwhile, HGTV is set to shut down in the UK, with some of its shows such as Celebrity IOU with the Property Brothers, Home Town and My Lottory Dream Home moving to Really.
