Variety reports that Hulu has given the green light to a reboot of Prison Break.
The project was first reported to be in the works with a pilot order on Hulu in December 2024. The cast includes Emily Browning as Cassidy, Drake Rodger as Tommy, Lucas Gage as Jackson, Clayton Cardenas as Michael “Ghost,” J.R. Bourne as Junior, Georgie Flores as Andrea, and Miles Bullock as Darius “Red.”
As previously reported, the new show is set in the same world as the original series, but features different characters and new storylines. The official logline reads: “Browning, a former soldier turned correctional officer, is sent to work in one of America’s most dangerous prisons to prove how far he will go for the people he loves.”
In addition to directing the pilot, Elgin James serves as the series’ writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Dawn Olmstead will serve as executive producer, with “Prison Break” creators Paul Sheuring, Marty Adelstein and Neal Moritz serving as executive producers. Olmsted, Adelstein, and Moritz were all executive producers on the original series. 20th Television, which produced the original program, will serve as the studio.

“Prison Break” aired on Fox for five seasons and was a hit for the network. The original cast included Dominic Purcell, Wentworth Miller, Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Sarah Wayne Callies, and Rockmund Dunbar. The show also spawned the TV movie “The Final Break” and a low-budget spin-off “Prison Break: Proof of Innocence” available exclusively on mobile phones. The series also inspired video games, online webisodes, magazines, and novels.
