Denise Richards’ estranged husband Aaron Phypers was charged with four felonies after he was arrested in court during a restraining order hearing on Friday.
Fipers was charged with two felonies of injuring a spouse and two felonies of dissuading a witness by force or intimidation.
The crime date for three of the charges is listed as January 17, 2022, and the crime date for one count of injury to a spouse is listed as May 3, 2022.
Mr. Fipers is currently out on bail on $200,000 bail.
Representatives for Phypers did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on the charges, but his attorney, Michael Finley, previously said he expects the criminal charges to be proven false and Phypers to be exonerated.
“When criminal cases are brought, the evidence is not well-organized and considered,” Finley said. “Criminal cases are filed and lost all the time. Just because a lawsuit is filed doesn’t mean it will be successful.”
“We are fairly confident that we were able to prove that her allegations were false in the domestic violence case in divorce court,” he continued.
After being rescued from the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station on Friday night, Phypers appeared in good spirits and smiled as he posed alongside a California bail bondman.
Ms Richards, 54, was granted a temporary restraining order against Mr Phypers, 53, in July, and she is now seeking to make the restraining order permanent.
Earlier this month, Ms. Richards testified that Mr. Phypers had assaulted her on multiple occasions, which coincides with the date of his new indictment.
She claimed that the incident on January 17, 2022 left her with a black eye, and that Phypers “slammed (her) into a concrete wall, causing (her) head to hit it.” The second incident is said to have occurred between March and May 2022.
Ms Phypers denied the allegations of abuse by Ms Richards and testified that she had no recollection of the black eye. According to officials, Richards’ eyes turned black while he was drinking.
“This is consistent with Denise Richards’ continued lies in trying to hide her alcohol problems,” a source claimed to the Daily Mail.
Mr Phypers had previously accused Mr Richards of abusing painkillers and alcohol.
He also claimed that Richards was “bruising easily” and that he witnessed her getting hurt “frequently”.
“She bruised her arm and got all kinds of bruises. She fell down while cooking and got a bruise,” he testified.
