Jacob Elordi previews the highly anticipated third season of Euphoria.
“It was incredible,” the actor told me on the red carpet at the Academy Museum Gala on Saturday. “It was incredibly liberating. I got to play something that was so different from anything I’d ever done before.”
He said series creator Sam Levinson had “created something incredibly smart and cinematic, and I think people are going to love it.”
However, Elordi insists that we don’t actually know exactly what will happen in season 3.
“Everyone shoots for a different storyline,” Elordi said. “I don’t know what other people are doing. I had a really singular storyline. I don’t know what the other storylines are. It’s like the FBI files. So it’s great because as a fan, I get to consume the show like everyone else. I’m really excited about it, something I haven’t been able to do before.”
Elordi also wanted to clarify a news article that said Season 3 was shot entirely on VistaVision. “I didn’t say that. It’s not like that,” he said, adding, “The movie was shot on different types of film and it’s very beautiful.”
A Warner Bros. representative did not respond to Variety’s request for comment regarding the use of VistaVision.
“Euphoria” is a story about a group of high school students, centered around Lu (Zendaya), a drug-addicted teenager who must overcome intense social situations, family drama, and living a clean life after rehab. Season 2 aired in 2022. Through its first two seasons, the show received 25 Emmy nominations and won nine awards.
Elordi will be joined by Zendaya, Hunter Schaefer, Eric Dane, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demme, Maud Apatow, Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, Dominic Fike, Coleman Domingo and Kika King.
Trisha Paytas, Natasha Lyonne, Daniel Deadwyler, and Eli Roth joined Season 3, along with Vera Podaras, Bill Bodnar, Kaylin Rice, Colleen Camp, Gideon Adlon, Hemky Madera, Homer Geer, Jack Topalian, Jessica Blair Herman, Kwame Patterson, Madison Thompson, Matthew Willig, Rebecca Pidgeon, and Sam. Trammel.
Elordi is currently in the midst of a promotional and awards campaign for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. Elordi stars as the monster in the Netflix movie alongside Oscar Isaac, who plays Victor Frankenstein.
“[Netflix CEO]Ted Sarandos said to me before we started the movie, ‘You’re so lucky to be working with such a kind genius. That’s a rare thing,'” Elordi recalls. “Gentle geniuses are rare. He is the kindest of geniuses.”
