Kevin Federline is revealing exactly how much money he received from his divorce from Britney Spears and how he spent it.
Federline, who was married to the Princess of Pop from September 2004 until she filed for divorce in November 2006, writes about the financial details of their breakup in her upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew.
The former backup dancer said she was given $20,000 a month in child support for her two sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, and an additional $20,000 a month in alimony for half of their 26-month marriage.
Although he mentioned the settlement, he did not specify the amount. However, it was previously reported to be in the range of $1 million to $1.3 million.
She remembers being advised by her lawyer to “put the $1 million she received from her divorce in a safe place where it would grow,” but she didn’t think she needed to “worry about that” because she would “make another million in no time.”
The 47-year-old claims he was “not financially stable” after the breakup as he “didn’t have as much money as I thought I would.” He cites rent, transportation, security, child care, and all the other day-to-day needs of raising two children in Los Angeles.
Contrary to long-held legend, Federline signed a “pretty standard” prenuptial agreement with Spears, which he admits he didn’t think was necessary, but insists he “wasn’t some scumbag just waiting for a check.”
He claims to have been “busy outside, trying, investing (and) working.” The father of six said his work included appearing in commercials, hosting events, making appearances and attending high-profile parties.
Spears, 43, issued a scathing statement as excerpts of her revelations begin to emerge.
“The publicity surrounding Kevin’s book has once again allowed her and others to profit from her,” her rep told Page Six.
“Unfortunately, this happened after the child support agreement with Kevin ended,” the rep said.
Mr. Federline (who makes disturbing allegations against Mr. Federline in his book) received his last payment from her in November 2024, after her youngest child turned 18.
Spears’ rep said: “All she cares about is her children and their well-being in this sensational endeavor.”
The Grammy winner himself took to Instagram to accuse Federline of “gaslighting” him and “hurting” him with “blank lies.”
