The Jogja Netpac Asian Film Festival, with support from the Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy, is doubling down on intellectual property development with the announcement of 10 original IPs selected for the 2025 content market.

Scheduled to run from November 29th to December. At the JAFF 20th anniversary celebrations to be held at the Yogya Expo Center in Yogyakarta, the content market will showcase properties spanning games, comics, novels, animation and digital content. All of these have been scrutinized for possible screen adaptation.

“The strength of Indonesia’s creative economy lies in its storytelling,” said Creative Economy Minister Tuk Lifky Harsha. “Through platforms like JAFF Content Market, we can transform local intellectual property into creative products that are globally relevant.”

The selected lineup includes Ninoi Kiling’s video game “Amurva”; Comics “Elang Hitam” (written by Edwin Fernando Trangono), “Jemawa Yangti” (written by M. Shahriza Lijadi), “Journal of Terror” (written by Sweta Kartika), “The Summoning” (written by Iskandar Salim), “World Without Sleep” (written by Ferdian Faisal). Monoma Film’s animation project “Meng”. Hanum Sarsaviera Rice’s novel Sankakara di Langit Andalusia and Marcella FP’s Tabi. Digital content “Gloomy Sunday” by Funky Randerson.

Each IP was reviewed by curators and assessed for narrative strength, visual potential, commercial viability, and readiness for cross-disciplinary collaboration. The program aims to bridge Indonesia’s publishing, gaming and music sectors with the growing film and streaming industry.

“Many of our country’s best stories already exist in books, songs and games, and this platform will help give them new life through film and series,” said Linda Gozali, market director of JAFF Market. “Our goal is to position Indonesia not only as a production region, but also as a source of creative and adaptable ideas.”

The initiative builds on the momentum from JAFF Content Market 2024, where three Indonesian IPs (“Bandits of Batavia,” “Locust,” and “Jitu”) were selected for Cannes Film Festival’s Spotlight Asia program, connecting creators with studios and distributors focused on adapting Asian IP.

Sponsored by Amar Bank, Content Market will facilitate selected pitching sessions and business meetings between IP creators, producers, investors and distributors across Asia.

The film festival will run until December 6th.
