Elizabeth Olsen has finally returned as Scarlet Witch in “Marvel Zombies” despite being a voice role. The 4-Episode Disney+ Animation Series is a spin-off of “What if…?” And it is set in a world where most of the population, including the Avengers, is zombie. Olsen voices many returning Marvel alumni as Aliman, including Paul Rudd, Iman Verani, Ms. Marvel and Sim Liu Shanchi and others along with fan favorite superheroes.
“I really recorded it a few years ago. I don’t remember anything,” Olsen admitted at La Comic Con (via Gamesradar) when asked about her Scarlet Witch Return. “I need to see it. I don’t know what happens in Marvel Zombies.”
Olsen continued, “It’s my voice. I did it in my house, I wasn’t even in the office space. This was 2020, 2021. Why did I work in my house, not in the studio? I really don’t know what it is. I’m so sorry.”
Olsen debuted as scar magic in the post-credit scene of 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” before his proper supportive role in 2015’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” She has since starred in blockbusters such as Avengers: Infinity War and Doctor Strange of Multiverse of Madness, and has headlined the Disney+ series Wanda Vision.
The “Doctor Strange” sequel remains the look of Olsen’s final face-to-face Marvel, and remains as a Scarlet Witch. The film ends with the character being a completely blown away villain, crushed by a scar-colored witch under a collapsed building. Her fate is unknown, and neither Olsen nor Marvel have yet to announce when Scarlet Witch will reappear. She has not been announced as a cast member for next year’s Avengers: The End.
Olsen said last year he was open to revamping the Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but only if there is a way to use the characters a lot.
“It’s a character who loves to go back when there’s a way to use her often. When I started, I think I was lucky to have been used a lot,” Olsen said in a recent interview with the FM104 (via Collider). “People didn’t know what to do with me for a moment… If there was a good way to use her, I’m always happy to be back.”
All four episodes of “Marvel Zombie” are now available for streaming on Disney+.
