Cameramage honors director Lizgarvas, who was awarded the award for his outstanding achievements in documentary filmmaking at the 33rd Energy Filmmaking Festival held in True, Poland this November.
Two-time Emmy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Garvas directed “Farm: Angola, America,” “Bobby Fisher against the World,” “Bobby Fisher against the World,” “Abu Ghraib’s Ghost,” “Marilyn’s Ghost,” and “Miss Simone? This year, she directed “One Night: College Murderers” on Netflix’s true crime docsary, “Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer,” and on Amazon Prime videos. She also directed episodes of the 2020 storyline features “Lost Girls” and “The Handmaid’s Tale”, “Yellowjackets” and “Good American Family.”
Considered the main voice of documentary films, Garbus continues to direct and produce under Story Syndicate, a New York-based production company.
The 33rd Energy americage will take place in the Kujawee Pomorze region of Truon from November 15th to 22nd.

The 41st Boston Film Festival announces the winners of 2025
The 41st Boston Film Festival has revealed the winners of the 2025 program, designed to spotlight a wide range of films and talent across genres and themes.
Announcing the ad-free streaming service Kanopy, this year’s film festival featured a red carpet for filmmakers and talent. The platform took part in the festival to inspire students to discover, discuss and celebrate the art of cinema.
Boston audiences were treated to a series of premiers and screenings spanning suspense, drama, historical and environmental storytelling. Highlights included the international premiere of the opening night feature, “The Fallow One.” The world premiere of “Ambleside” closed the festival.
Emerson College students also featured a screening of the new Warner Bros television series, “It: Welcome to Derry,” featuring a panel discussion with production designer Paul Asterberry and costume designer Lewis Sekiyra, hosted by extra Monacosar Abdi. As part of his continued collaboration with the Boston Film Festival, voice actor Eric Bauza was also featured on the festival’s animation panel.
“Ambleside” ruled and won six awards including Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Music, Best Actress and Best Ensemble Cast. The Best Actor was awarded to Bradley James for his portrayal of CPL. George Hansen’s “The Fallow Beor.” The Best Actress was awarded to Ellie Bamber for her portrayal of Lucy Gladwell in “Ambleside.”
The best documentary film winner was “Blue Zeus” from directors Rocky Romano and Miranda Winters. Director John Carlos Frey’s documentary, “The Snake and the Whale,” was selected by Ecofilm, and Daniel Matmor’s Mass Impact Award was “Hidden: The Kati Preston Story.”

Skybound Entertainment and Regal join forces to premier Spike and Mike’s Animation Extravaganza 2025
Skybound Entertainment partnered with Regal to bring Spike and Mike’s animation Extravaganza 2025 to theaters nationwide from October 31st to November 2nd.
Hosted by YouTubers Jaiden Animations and Ross O’Donovan, the 90-minute pairs 70s and 80s animations with quirky live-action bits and new shorts. Skybound Entertainment has selected 24 films as part of the three-day festival after receiving hundreds of short film submissions from creators across North America.
The shorts feature retro 8-bit adventures, balloon-based aliens with interstellar appetite, PHLEGM spitting characters, zombies, skeletons dancing under the full moon, and a video game marathon.
Spike and Mike’s animation festival includes the premieres of “Ballony Beacon”, “Beautiful Day”, “Dan Semaccar”, “Debt and Anxiety”, “Detektive House”, “doodlepops”, and “Heart-Choose”.

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announces 2025 Gold Fellowship for Women
Alina Simone (“Black Snow”) and Marlé n Viñayo (“Cachada: The Chutones”) were selected as winners of the 2025 Academy Gold Fellowship for Women presented by Chanel. The Gold Fellowship for Women is a year-round program that combines support, personalized mentorship and access networking opportunities for emerging female filmmakers. The two fellowships are presented annually to US-based filmmakers and non-US-based filmmakers.
“Advocating and inspire a new generation of global filmmakers is at the heart of the Academy’s mission and we are excited to continue this work through our Gold Fellowship for Women. We are extremely grateful for our partner Chanel for our generous support, who shares our commitment to cultivating talented female filmmakers and opening up meaningful opportunities in the film industry.
Fellows receive career promotion support through the Academy Gold Alumni Association Network and provide ongoing access, professional development and education to alumni of the Academy’s talent development program.
The 2025 Fellows were selected from a group of six finalists.
