Kelly Clarkson airs after the death of her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
The singer made a “emotional” return to “Kelly Clarkson Show” with live taping airing Monday.
Filming took place “Tuesday morning,” but the outlet did not specify an exact date, according to USA Today.
The “American Idol” alumnus (43) did not mention Blackstock, who died in August at the age of 48 during taping.
But music director Jason Halbert told the outlet Monday that Clarkson’s “Keryok” singing segment “reflects what he might not sit in an interview with Couch and speak verbally.”
He admitted that “a lot has happened to all of us last year, both at the personal and career level.”
Clarkson sang Weekend’s “Blind Light” for the premiere, sang “Walking in the Sunlight” by Katrina and the Waves.
The theme of the seventh season of the NBC Show is “Lights.” Showrunner Alex Duda said, “When the world is dark and heavy, we look for light. …That’s what we did from the beginning. We wanted to reaffirm it.”
Monday’s show did so by balancing a light-hearted interview with Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie about a “big bold, beautiful journey” with the hero who saved a child in the Texas Hill Country floods in July.
“(Clarkson) doesn’t know how to see that segment and distinguish between how to make crafts with kids and jump in like they’re coming out with songs,” Halbert said.
Clarkson has been holding talk shows since 2019, and production of season 7 will begin on the week of September 8th.
The songwriter has repeatedly shook his tongue last year due to absentia, with TMZ reporting in March that Clarkson dealing with “personal issues that don’t involve her directly.”
The absence of the Grammy Award winner gave staff a feeling of “whiplash,” and in May, “she can always bolt,” the Daily Mail reported.
Additionally, Clarkson cancelled multiple shows at a Las Vegas residency in August. This is when she reveals her former partner’s health struggle.
“I usually keep my personal life a secret, but for the past year, my child’s father has been ill,” the “strong” crooner wrote via Instagram last month.
“At this moment I need to be fully present for them,” she continued her daughter, Kawakawa (11) and her son, Remington (9).
By the next day, news had been broken that the talent agent had lost his battle with skin cancer.
He is survived by two adult children, Savannah, 23, and 18-year-old children and one grandchild from River and Remington, as well as two adult children from her first marriage to Melissa Ashworth. The other one is on the way.
At the time of Blackstock’s death, he was dating Britney Marie Jones, former assistant to Clarkson.
Clarkson has not yet issued a statement regarding Blackstock’s death.
Exe met in 2012 and tied the knot a year later, and submitted by daytime Emmy winners to end their marriage in the summer of 2020.
The pair’s divorce was resolved in 2022.
