Indie Banner Memory pulled back the curtains of Julian Castronovo’s experimental documentary noir “Debut, or Objects of Fields of Creatures Now Cataloged” ahead of the October feature play development.

As the title suggests, Castronovo’s “debut” marks the feature debut of the 27-year-old filmmaker, premiering at the International Film Festival Rotter Dam in January, and a selection at the Doc fullnight function, held at the Los Angeles Festival, a focus on the Modern Art Museum in New York and the indie-focused Los Angeles Festival. He won the Special Juju Award at the Transilvania International Film Festival.

According to the film’s Logline, “The Object of the Shatters Now Cataloged” starring Julian Castronovo as a filmmaker named Julian Castronovo, plunging into the rabbit hole of digital conspiracy as he investigates the disappearance of Art Forger. The film was inspired by the case of Elysa Hai, a New York art dealer who runs the gallery after being convicted of forgery and was sentenced to 41 months.

“In some ways, it was a very difficult film to make, and in other ways it was very easy. Essentially I made everything sitting at my desk in the bedroom,” Castronovo told Filmmaker Magazine, who spoke about his debut, which was produced for just $900.

“Debut” will be released in Castronovo’s hometown of Los Angeles on October 17th at the current Instant Image Hall. The New York Bows continue on October 25th at the Roxy Cinema. From there, the indie will expand to more locations and dates will be announced.
