President Donald Trump has had a surprising response to being aunted by golfer Rory McIlroy and Team Europe after beating Team USA, which won the Ryder Cup on Sunday, September 28th.
After a tense tournament, 36-year-old McIlroy and his teammates lifted the Ryder Cup trophy and said, “Are you watching? Are you watching? Are you watching? Are you watching? Donald Trump?”
Trump, 79, appeared in support of Team USA on Friday, September 26th, but his presence was ambitious for the golf team, who fell behind Team Europe early in the tournament, and was unable to return to the annual US-Europe competition.
Trump, who has a global reputation for weaponizing ock lol, said, “Yes, I’m watching. Congratulations!” in a message he wrote on the social media website Truth Social.
Team Europe scored the event with 15-13 points, despite Team USA taking the late comeback attempt on Sunday.
The event was overshadowed by the noisy atmosphere among US fans at Beth Page Black Course in Farmingdale, New York, and repeatedly clashed with McIlroy and other team European players throughout the weekend.
According to Golf.com, the 2025 Masters winner appears to be giving the fans a middle finger after finishing their putts, yelling fans to scream “fund the f-up” during their backswing after being hecked during an approach shot on the 16th hole on Saturday, September 27th.

ESPN and NPR said the New York State Police were thrown off the course Saturday after the incident with McIlroy on hole 16, and police said “additional” officers will be sent to the course over the weekend to help deal with unruly fans.
McIlroy’s wife Erin reportedly splattered beer while the couple walked the course over the weekend, and the first hole host reportedly said “F —You, Rory!” early on the weekend, BBC Sport reported.

“The amount of police and security presence was insane,” McIlroy told media members after the tournament ended Sunday.
“Look, nothing’s going to happen. There was no physical altercation or anything like that, but there was a lot of language of abusive behaviour that is unacceptable,” he said. “The majority of the people here are genuine golf fans and respectful, but I don’t think we should accept that in golf.”

McIlroy added: “Golf teaches you very good life lessons. It teaches you etiquette, teaches you how to play rules. It teaches you how to respect people. I didn’t see that this week.
