Serena Gomez’s mom, Mandy Teefay, confirmed that the actress was walking down the aisle by her grandfather, David Cornett.
“What a perfect celebration for the most kick-ass couple I know!” The businesswoman wrote via Instagram Sunday along with photos from the wedding day of the “Building’s Only Murder” star and husband Benny Blanco.
“The evening could have been even more beautiful and perfect! It was absolutely perfect! All my love for my beautiful daughter @selenagomez and great son in law @itsbennyblanco!!!”
“It was a fairy tale come true, and seeing my dad walking her down the aisle was beyond heartwarming!!! XO!!!”
While Teefey restricted comments on the post, several fans questioned why her ex-husband (Selena’s father, Ricardo Joel Gomez) didn’t give up on the singer.
“Why didn’t her father do that?” one asked, as if another screamed, “Why wasn’t she her own dad?”
Serena’s representatives were not immediately replied with a request for comment on Page 6.
Serena, 33, was vaguely opened up about her relationship with her father. In 2022, she told Rolling Stone that he “don’t want to be a part of” his life as an actress.
“So, it was really me and my mother, our journey,” she said.
In 2013, the Disney alum looked back on her childhood with 50-year-old Ricardo through an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, saying that at age 7 she would take her to the Hooters to watch the San Antonio Spurs game.
“He began to notice that when I came, all the waitresses were like, ‘Hey!’ with my little pigtails. So he ended up spending half the time with me, and those pretty girls are coming in,” she said. “And that kind of thing has become ours.”
Mandy and Richard married from 1992 to 1997, and later remarried Briante Teafy in 2006.
Serena’s mom shared that the singer’s father is keeping her away after the Daily Mail reported that the actress was being “smashed” for not choosing her.
An insider told the outlet, “David and his wife Debbie were broken with tears of joy (Serena) asked him.”
“Serena made the decision as soon as she began planning her wedding,” the source said.
“Woman of Waverly” alumni and Slanco, 37, said “I” at a star-studded ceremony in Santa Barbara, California on Saturday.
Among the attendees were Taylor Swift, Paul Rudd Martin Short and Steve Martin.
